Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs a week ago following the loss against the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite the development, Prescott played on Christmas Day against the Washington Commanders.
It turned out to be a tough and physical battle against the Washington Commanders. Prescott played well. The Cowboys eventually sneaked in a 30-23 victory with the help of CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Javonte Williams.
Prescott capped off with 19 completions from 37 pass attempts for 307 yards and threw 2 touchdowns. Backup RB Malik Davis had a rare 100-yard game on 20 carries.
The 7-8-1 Cowboys close out the year with a trip to the Big Apple by playing against the New York Giants. Prescott doesn’t need to play in that game, as the Cowboys have nothing to play for. However, the 32-year-old, who earned a spot in the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl, is looking to wrap up his year on a high note.

A lot of pride, and I think that’s another reason I want to play. In a season [of] me being healthy, I’ve never had, in all of my life, career, a season under .500. So that tie is going to come into play really well. So, it’s a huge difference. It’s one of those things that I mean, yeah, it’s just pride.
Dak Prescott said (H/T: ESPN)
According to Pro Football Reference, a healthy Prescott has never finished below .500 ever since starting varsity football at Mississippi State. He came extremely close during his fourth year in Dallas, but pulled through to end with an 8-8 record.

Ryan Clark suggests the Cowboys should sit Dak Prescott for their game against the Giants
Prescott may have a valid reason to play in the final week of the regular season, but the Cowboys should consider saving him from an organizational standpoint. Only last year, he missed nine games due to undergoing surgery on his right hamstring. It doesn’t make much sense to risk another major injury to the best player on the roster.

Ryan Clark experienced a few when he played for the Steelers back in the day. Now part of ESPN, Clark urged the Cowboys to make the call and bench Prescott, as he has nothing to prove to anyone.
Excuse my language, if Dak Prescott doesn’t go sit his a** off and stop this… Dak Prescott doesn’t have a thing to prove to me or anybody else at the end of this Pro Bowl season. Dak Prescott has played hard. Dak Prescott has led the top of the leaders in this league. And that’s all we need to see.
Ryan Clark said in a recent segment of First Take
Prescott leads the league with 4482 passing yards in 16 games. He has thrown 397 completions (67.4%), 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He has a great shot at finishing with the most yards with a big performance against the Giants. However, player health takes priority over a record, especially if that player earns $60 million per year.
The responsibility falls on head coach Brian Schottenheimer‘s shoulders to convince his QB1 to sit out the Giants game.
If I’m Brian Schottenheimer, I stand in front of the team, and I say, ‘Guess what? Sometimes you got to save competitors from themselves.’
Ryan Clark added
"If Dak Prescott don't go sit his ass down and stop this!"

The Cowboys and the Giants played out a thriller in week two in Dallas. It took a 46-yard Brandon Aubrey overtime field goal to decide the outcome. It finished 40-37. Prescott had 38 completions for 361 yards (73%), 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.
