In Short
  • Kyler Murray is set to be released by the Arizona Cardinals after seven seasons with the team.
  • Ryan Clark's 2020 comments about Murray potentially leading the Ravens to a Super Bowl have resurfaced amid the release news.
  • Murray expressed regret for not ending the Cardinals' 77-year Super Bowl drought and hopes to continue his career elsewhere.

Oklahoma alum Kyler Murray was supposed to be the savior of the Arizona Cardinals ever since he was selected No. 1 overall in the 2019 Draft.

At the time, many were enthralled by his lightning-quick feet and how he could buy time with them, leaving opposition defenders in the dust, and still throw ridiculous passes to his receivers.

Many felt that the only factors stopping the Cardinals in those days were coaching and the lack of true explosive receivers. They thought they were getting a leader in Jonathan Gannon, but he was fired after the 2025 season concluded.

They also drafted Marvin Harrison Jr., probably the most intriguing wide receiver in recent times. Yet nothing came of it, and now the franchise has decided to move on from its dynamic quarterback.

This would potentially raise many ‘what ifs,’ and many might think that Kyler Murray never got the chance to truly show his capabilities. In the midst of this, a video from 2020 has been doing the rounds on what one former player felt the 5’10” QB could do.

If Kyler Murray right now was the QB of the Ravens, we’d have much more confidence in them to win the Super Bowl.

Ryan Clark had said on ESPN’s Get Up

This video resurfaced soon after the Cardinals let the football world know they would part ways with their QB. Now, this video makes Ryan Clark look bad, as Murray is further away from the Super Bowl than he ever was in the seven years he has been in the NFL.

Kyler Murray claims he ‘failed’ the Cardinals

Soon after news confirmed that the Arizona Cardinals were going to release Kyler Murray, the Texas native took to the social media platform X to write this.

I wanted nothing more than to be the one to end the 77-year drought for this organization, I am sorry I failed us. I wish this community and my brothers nothing but the best.

Kyler Murray wrote

Other than thanking the franchise for giving him everything in the seven years he has been in the desert, the signal caller believes he has ‘failed’ them by not coming close to ending their Super Bowl drought.

However, he hopes that the Cardinals do well once he is gone. At the same time, he believes he is yet to play his best football, and hopes this adversity will fuel him to fulfil his dreams.

With not many options available in the draft, it is curious what the franchise will do with its quarterback situation. But Kyler Murray will have a host of suitors.

Analyst believes Kyler Murray’s best bet is with the Vikings

Kyler Murray was poised to make $52.6 million next season had he stayed with the Cardinals. Instead, now, he will have to look for another job. But he will not be pressed for money, as he will still earn $36.8M guaranteed. That means he could be open to playing on the veteran minimum on a franchise desperate for a good signal caller.

There are several teams who could use an experienced dynamic dual-threat quarterback, namely the New York Jets, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Miami Dolphins, the Atlanta Falcons, and a few others.

Even the position at the Pittsburgh Steelers could open up if Aaron Rodgers decides he is done with football. However, one position is seemingly open even if they have a young QB in place.

ESPN’s Mina Kimes believes that the Minnesota Vikings should be looking at Kyler Murray. Amid rumors that the franchise wants to look at options before deciding on JJ McCarthy, the 28-year-old could get a call.
