Fernando Mendoza and Ryan Clark (Inside the circle)

In Short
  • Ryan Clark criticized journalist Adam Ferrell for spreading false quotes about him on social media.
  • Clark emphasized that he never made the comments attributed to him and challenged Ferrell to provide evidence.
  • The incident highlights ongoing issues of misinformation and racial narratives in sports commentary.

Ryan Clark is pushing back against false narratives. The retired NFL athlete-turned-ESPN analyst called out a journalist for spreading misinformation about him.

Clark has also created a separate identity for himself on social media. He often reacts to socio-political matters involving the Black community. This makes individuals like Clark a soft target of trolls.

Adam Ferrell, a self-proclaimed NFL insider, tried to spin a narrative against Clark involving Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza. He tweeted out a reaction from Clark.

Well, we saw what happened when a black man did that last year. Let’s see what happens when a white man does it.

Ferrell tweeted

Before RC could notice the tweet, some of his folks did, and they hit him up in his DMs. Shortly after, Clark confronted Ferrell with a sharp reply.

Bro!! It’s crazy that folks can just make things up. This is so dang fake and false!! Just want to p*** people off, I see, and lessen someone’s voice! I did not say this!!

Ryan Clark said

Despite his best efforts to quell the situation, the post had already reached its targeted audience.

Ryan Clark is not backing down without a fight

Clark has said a few things in the past that have turned social media against him. Some of his comments tend to pass off as “Black vs. White.” For instance, RC was in hot water for a while after beefing with colleague Peter Schrarger for simply doing his job. His apology did little to paint him in a better light.

So, when Ferrell sought to infer that Clark is condemning Mendoza based on his skin tone, many people on the internet believed him without question.

In his defense, Clark quickly dismissed the idea of ever making such comments about Mendoza. The 46-year-old even threw an open challenge to Ferrell to prove his claims.

Just FYI! With all the access I have to cameras if I say it, there’s a video! Stop believing dumb a**, fake Quotes!.. If there ain’t a video I didn’t say it!

Ryan Clark wrote

What are some of the claims that Adam Ferrell has made?

Clark is the latest victim of Ferrell’s shenanigans. Over the past few weeks, he has made some absurd claims to increase the reach of his Twitter profile. For example, Jaylen Waddle allegedly wanted to be released from the Dolphins after the club cut Bradley Chubb.

WR Jaylen Waddle reportedly told the Dolphins front office “me next” after the release of Bradley Chubb and Tyreek Hill. Things are not looking good in Miami.

To back up his statement, Ferrell shared a screenshot showing that Waddle liked his tweet.

Needless to say, anxious Dolphins fans waited for a reply from Waddle to confirm the news. With Tyreek Hill no longer in the building, losing Waddle would cripple the Miami offense. Waddle eased the Dolphins fans’ blood pressure with just one emoji, “cap.” In the language of Gen Z, it means that Ferrell is not being truthful, or to put it bluntly, he’s lying.

In another post, Ferrell alleged that the Chiefs and the Cardinals are discussing a blockbuster trade centered around wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Marvin Harrison Jr.

Even though he implied that the trade makes sense, in reality, it does not. There’s absolutely zero reason for the Chiefs to trade Worthy, let alone the Cardinals giving away Harrison Jr., who, despite his struggles, still has one of the highest ceilings in the NFL.
