Aaron Rodgers put a target on his back ever since he called out a section of TV analysts with a non-football background peddling personality-driven content. ESPN’s Ryan Clark is the latest to take a dig at the New York Jets quarterback.

During a recent episode on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers highlighted that the analysts occasionally go overboard with their criticism of players regardless of the situation. The way he phrased his argument, it was bound to blow up, and it did.

I’m talking about these experts on TV who nobody remembers what they did in their career. So, in order for them to stay relevant, they have to make comments that keep them in the conversation.

The Super Bowl winner went even further by comparing the current crop of analysts with the group in the mid-2000s. According to the Super Bowl winner, when he began his football career, the level of experts about the gridiron was much more sophisticated than it is currently.

ESPN’s Mina Kimes was the first to respond to Rodgers’ statement.

Kimes, who has been with the network for almost a decade, threw the ball back at the 41-year-old’s court, stating that he does the same by speaking on the Pat McAfee Show.

He’s espousing that opinion on a personality-driven program that employs him as a personality during the NFL season.

It’s a situation that was bound to spiral over. After Kimes, Ryan Clark, former player turned analyst, did not hold back while talking about Rodgers’ statement during Friday’s episode of First Take. Clark pointed out that Rodgers also appears in front of the camera and voices his opinions about others, which is no different from what they are doing.

Clark found the entire situation asinine and hypocritical from Rodgers. He further turned up the heat by calling the former Super Bowl MVP arrogant and unaware of the surroundings around him.

This dude is once again tone-deaf. This dude is once again unaware; this dude is once again arrogant—to a point that’s almost sickening. Because he says these things and he talks tough, and he behaves in this way, but he ain’t.

Ryan Clark said

Clark even labeled Rodgers as a fraud who, from his point of view, was good at football and that is it.

This dude is a fraud. He’s been a fraud. He can throw a football. That’s where it stops. Once that talent ends, so does he.

Ryan Clark added

The way this is going, it’s more than likely to continue on for a while. Everything depends on how Aaron Rodgers responds to the backlash. He can either choose to do it through verbal means or prove it on the Gridiron by winning a few games for the 3-10 Jets.
