Tempers ran rampant as Michigan Wolverines players attempted to plant a flag in the middle of Ohio State’s turf on Saturday. Sherrone Moore’s Michigan pulled off a historic win against Ryan Day’s Buckeyes despite being 20.5 points underdogs before the fixture.
It turned out to be a cagey affair from start to finish. Fans witnessed four interceptions—two from each quarterback, Davis Warren and Will Howard—and two touchdowns. Buckeyes rookie receiver Jeremiah Smith added one, while Michigan’s Kalel Mullings, who had 32 rushes with the ball, scored the other.
The game ended with Moore’s Wolverines snatching the win (13-10) over the #2 Buckeyes, putting a dent in their automatic chances of playing in the college playoffs.
Even after the game ended, players from both teams roamed the field in disbelief at the result. Meanwhile, a couple of Michigan players tried to plant a flag in the middle of the turf. When the Buckeyes contingent intervened, both teams began to throw punches and use curse words at each other.

Ohio State’s defensive end Jack Sawyer, wasn’t happy with a rival team’s flag flaring on their ground. Sawyer had to be removed from the scene as Ryan Day watched in silence.

Ryan Day addressed Michigan-Ohio State players fighting over planting a flag
The Buckeyes only needed a win for them to qualify for the BIG 10 Championship game against the 11-0 Oregon Ducks. However, the defeat gave Penn State the chance to qualify to face the #1 team in the nation.
Moreover, the fight at the end set a bad precedent. Day remained a spectator throughout the entire ordeal but later addressed it in the post-match press conference.
"I don’t know all the details, but I know these guys were looking to put a flag on our field and we’re not going to let that happen.”

It was the Buckeyes’ fourth consecutive loss against the Wolverines. According to ESPN Bet, this result went down the biggest upset in this fixture since the FBS/FBC split back in the 1970s.
The rivalry game closed at 41.5. With just 23 points. This will sting a lot, but the fight sullied the sanctity of college football.
