Gervonta “Tank” Davis didn’t lose out on his fight vs. Lamont Roach. However, he did lose a lot of his boxing credibility and charm due to the controversial fight. With a stat now reading 30-0-1, the WBA lightweight title card headliner is not as invincible as he was yesterday. Recent rival and viral boxer Ryan Garcia weighed in on it.

The judges’ card had it 115-113 (for Gervonta Davis), 114-114, and 114-114 for the challenger. It ended in a controversial majority draw where Tank appeared to take a knee just to wipe off some hair gel! It even baffled Ryan Garcia, who’s prone to so many weird viral moments himself. Without any extra drama, Garcia was as blunt as he can with the response.

Lamont won that. Not calling that knockdown is the most wild thing I ever seen in boxing, that type of stuff makes boxing look bad. CRAZY SH*T SEE YALL MAY 2nd.

Gervonta Davis’s Round 9 knee-dip antic confused referee Steve Willis, boxing fans, “KingRy,” and almost everyone else. Even boxing icon Terence Crawford fumed over the lack of point deduction. Willis might have been able to get it ruled as a knockdown, but the knees didn’t touch. It would have resulted in a one-point deduction for Davis on all three judges’ scorecards.

Meanwhile, Ryan Garcia fights next on the May 2nd Ring Magazine ‘Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ card at Times Square, NY headliner. While he was angling for a rematch with Gervonta Davis, now, he might focus on NYC and a future rematch against Devin Haney before avenging his loss against Tank.

Gervonta Davis’ title fight gets scathing response from female champion

Lamont Roach went into this WBA lightweight world title fight as an outsider. A big underdog versus a big name like Gervonta Davis had many people believing Tank took an easy fight. However, the challenger stuck to his footwork and grind and proved he could hold his own. Hence, the common consensus is asking the same thing: Was he robbed?

The contentious moment of the fight came in at the 2:18 mark of R9. Roach landed a right hand and a good jab; Tank staggered back and kneeled. Davis then proceeded to jog to his corner to have his face wiped clean, quite nonchalantly. A one-point deduction would have changed two judges’ scorecards to 114-113. This brought out an upset reaction from Claressa Shields.

How much they paying the ref ….. this is crazy

It would have been a fallout that would have favored Roach to win via split decision. But now, the fallout sees a draw and Tank refusing to rematch him yet. Roach reckons the moment should have bagged him a clear-digit win, but it is what it is. Nevertheless, the future of Roach and Tank remains as exciting as ever for the fans awaiting their next bout.
