Ryan Garcia makes weird ‘P Diddy’ promise over Rolly Romero fight
Akin to Devin Haney, rival Ryan Garcia is ready for some P Diddy slander if he can't get past Rolly Romero at the ‘Fatal Fury’ event.

Partying with P Diddy made boxer Devin Haney an easy pickings for rival Ryan Garcia. Viral boxer Garcia, never one to back down, also bemused with peculiar Diddy connections with Carl Winslow. It’s safe to say he holds the topics in the worst of regards. Now, Garcia has joked about extreme measures if he loses the May 2nd ‘Fatal Fury’ event at Times Square, NYC against Rolly Romero.
P Diddy is in a pool of legal troubles with his Miami mansion seeing several federal raids in connection with an ongoing trafficking investigation. Many in the combat sports spectrum blatantly avoid any past instances or connections with that name. But Ryan Garcia has severe steps in mind if he cannot snag one in the win column against Rolly Romero.
If I lose to rolly I’m going to jail with diddy.

‘KingRy’ has been out on an NYSAC-imposed year ban, testing in the green for Ostarine. The NYSAC backtracked a false positive for 19-Norandrosterone, thus benching Garcia. So, he’s naturally keen to get back in the fold, even if it is against Rolly Romero, whom he has clashed on intellectual grounds of matchmaking ethos.

The ideal situation would be to match up and redeem against former WBC super-lightweight champion Devin Haney. Garcia dropped ‘Dream’ three times at the Barclays Center last April and won a majority decision (115-109, 114-110, and 112-112). However, Haney later sued him for PED-infused battery after his test failures. Ever since, Garcia has been poking fun at his fall from grace.
He even blatantly poked fun at Devin Haney for his previous connection to P Diddy. The “Diddy” instance is such a notoriety and slang for dark activities that even Camp Garcia isn’t safe from it. But bold Garcia is willing to face Diddy slander to prove he can get back to his winning momentum against Romero.
Late Scouting Report: Ryan Garcia’s return event is misread, to be an invitation-only boxing spectacle
Promoter Eddie Hearn has informed that tickets won’t be sold for the May 2nd ‘Fatal Fury’ event at Times Square, New York City. Per Hearn, the event is a cable pay-per-view “TV experience” for fans at home. It is not something that is meant for the general public.

Away from the game, Ryan Garcia still was ESPN‘s sixth-best active junior welterweight, and also a top #3 welterweight. Hence, the return of the highly-touted boxer for the City of Wolves Card stacked up much anticipation. Promoter Oscar De La Hoya, excited about it, had said half a million would flock to the live event against Rolly Romero, but Hearn humbly disagreed.
There was never any intentions to sell tickets for the event, …I believe there will be guests there. The whole concept of these. It’s not my event. This is my opinion. It’s a TV experience…It’s like Alcatraz, if that happens. They’re not going to put a crowd on Alcatraz Island. It’s just about the whole experience of that location. It was never the intention.

With Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, Arbold Barboza Jr., and prime rival Devin Haney butting in, there is some tension in the lineup. Romero himself felt that he was somewhat invisible in the media presser and that there are fan talks about the undercard having more charisma. But to that point, this card does not seem like a massive PPV sale build. It’s more of a puncher vs. boxer stiff test.
Hearn said that while the Fatal Fury DAZN PPV event will leave out five to ten million in windfalls, there was never an announcement for it to be a live crowd event. He believes that media personalities, VIPs and invite-only guests can attend it.
Garcia has already laid out his plans after WBA light welterweight champ Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero. So, there might be plenty of reasons and opportunities to enjoy his scrappers amid a live crowd, but Times Square won’t be it.
