Boxer Ryan Garcia almost fought Japanese kickboxing champion Rukiya Anpo at the end of 2024. This was for RIZIN 49: Decade, part of the RIZIN New Year’s Eve martial arts extravaganza in Tokyo, Japan. However, a nasty wrist injury forced him to postpone the bout. It was supposed to be his return to the ring after the controversial Devin Haney fight.
Despite a false positive for 19-Norandrosterone, Ryan Garcia tested in the green for Ostarine. Ever since, The New York State Athletic Commission backtracked the results to his matchup, leading to a suspension. Hence, Garcia was seeking crossover stints abroad. During the RIZIN 49: Decade telecast, Garcia got some mic time. He addressed his fans on the return delay.
I’m coming on here to say I’m sorry, sorry that I had to postpone this fight, …I suffered a hand injury in training camp to my right wrist right here, where after talking to doctors, I’m going to need surgery. And I had to take some time off the heal. I wanna thank Fanmio and Rizin for the opportunity.

Anpo, 29, was later rebooked to face K-1 bruiser Sina Karimian. Meanwhile, there’s still doubt about the original booking. Garcia runs into pools of troubles, and not just test pool ones. Mystic promoter and sometimes enemy Oscar De La Hoya predicted it’d not happen. GBP even threatened him with a $450 million lawsuit for veering the Fanmio PPV and RIZIN way without him.

However, Ryan Garcia is ready and prepping up. The controversial boxer said he needs a bit of time to heal up and return soon. At the later wing of it, ‘KingRy’ voiced his excitement about a Japan fight in the near vicinity.
Ryan Garcia still excited to make a fight in Japan with Rizin
Garcia, 26, is coming off the disastrous bout that he initially won. However, he settled for a “No Contest” after bombing his post-fight pool. This was despite WBC allowing to “witness the opening of the B sample container” for the adverse readings. The boxer blamed the linkage to the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) for test tampering.

Ryan Garcia and his other shenanigans and his vandalism charges last summer in June also added to the blemish. The WBC also expelled him for his racist rants. However, he signals positive things ahead from here on:
I’m still excited to fight in Japan soon, …And this will all resume right after I heal up in 2025. So, make no mistake, I am coming back to finish what we started with Anpo and he will eat his words, I guarantee it. Just need to take some time off but when I come back there will be a bang in Japan
Ryan Garcia further said
Garcia already has big names like Gervonta Davis, Jake Paul, and the likes vying for a matchup. He is still a big draw and capable fighter. He even knocked Haney down three times during their matchup, even though many credit that to his bloated 3.2lbs over limits and pumping up. However, many during the RIZIN 49: Decade airtime responded positively to his return promise. When he does return, it could one for ages.
