After Ryan Garcia‘s surprising performance against Devin Haney, many people have focused on his weight. KingRy weighed in 3.2 pounds extra for the fight, which even cost him the chance to be the current WBC super-lightweight champion. However, the young boxer wasn’t upset and seemed happy about his weight advantage. Similarly, Garcia has now revealed that Floyd Mayweather told him to weigh three pounds extra.
The weight advantage certainty helped Garcia even though it cost him $1.5 million. Furthermore, he appeared bigger and stronger than Haney, which led to his dominant performance. Normally, Haney is known for rehydrating and having a weight advantage, so Garcia decided to give The Dream a taste of his own medicine.

Bill Haney has had some beef with Mayweather for quite some time, so it appears Mayweather was on Garcia’s side for this fight.
Garcia also uploaded a screenshot of his video call with Money on Instagram after his spectacular victory. Both of them posed while laughing and showed the number three with their fingers. This was a reference to the 3-pound weight advantage. KingRy also called Floyd Mayweather his best friend in the social media post.
Mayweather told Garcia to wait for the Gervonta Davis rematch
Money did not just guide KingRy during the Haney fight because he appears to be advising Garcia about his career too. The former champion has had an illustrious career and has been a successful promoter. As such, he has even shown an interest in signing Garcia but hasn’t because of his active contract with Golden Boy Promotions.
However, this has not stopped him from advising the young boxer about his next move in boxing. Ryan Garica currently has a plethora of opponents to fight after his performance. Subsequently, he is interested in rematching Gervonta Davis for redemption.

Hence, even though Garcia wants the Tank rematch, it appears he is listening to Mayweather’s advice. Furthermore, he said the rematch might happen in 1-2 years, depending on the hype. KingRy is also quite confident that he will emerge victorious this time.
