New York Mets pitcher Ryne Stanek talks about why he decided to re-sign with the team on a 1-year deal prior to reporting to Spring Training. During Monday’s interview, he explained that coming back to Queens was not a sure thing, but he was happy to be back with the Mets.

Stanek labeled the same reason as Mets superstar signee Juan Soto as one of the major reasons he penned a deal with the team. Just like Soto, Stanek was impressed by the clubhouse vibe and the way they take care of the player’s family.

Ryne Stanek noted that his family was comfortable and well taken care of during his time with the team. While he understands that this may be something trivial to many, but for him it was one of the main reasons.

Just the clubhouse and the vibe, and obviously the team is good. They were really welcoming to me and my family…the quality of life for families that matter for people with kids and stuff like that. That actually takes a bigger weight than most people would assume.

The Mets added some crucial pieces to the team during the offseason. Following A.J. Minter’s 2-year deal, they sealed a 1-year contract with pitcher Ryne Stanek.

Last season he was acquired from the Seattle Mariners and recorded an average 6.06 ERA. However, during the postseason his pitching arm became one of the key points for the team as he recorded a 3.38 ERA in seven games.

Juan Soto labels family as important part of Mets 15-year $765 million offer

Juan Soto named family as one of the crucial key points for his 15-year $765 million deal with the New York Mets. This deal made headlines in MLB as it is the largest contract recorded to be given to a player.

Mets owner Steve Cohen put emphasis on a family atmosphere as it is one of the points every player looks forward to. While the New York Yankees offered Soto a 16-year $760 million deal, it was uprooted by the addition of a family suite by the Mets.

The Yankees declined to include a family suite in the Yankee Stadium saying they never have done with other players and it would have been unfair. Unfortunately for them, their rival Mets were more than willing to give up a suite and additional security and other services to sign the hottest outfielder in 2024 free agency.
