Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar celebrates his 48th birthday today. One of the greatest cricketers of all time, if not the greatest, the batsman was the definition of the perfect cricketer. Armed with excellent technique, a sound temperament and love for cricket, Sachin Tendulkar brought laurels aplenty for the nation. He defined hope. Stories of people switching off their TVs when Sachin got out, has been repeated aplenty. That was how much he meant for the nation and its love for cricket.

The highest run scorer of all time in international cricket and the only cricketer with 100 centuries, Sachin’s records are a reflection of his longevity and his awe-inspiring talent. A role model for millions and an icon for many more, his records and achievements are bound to stand the test of time. Beating them would take a huge effort and even if it happens, the sheer legacy of the man would be difficult to better.
