They watched over the semi-final encounter of the men’s singles event, where Taylor Fritz suffered a defeat to the defending Wimbledon champion and Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling four-set contest, which lasted over 2 long hours.
Post-match, Sachin Tendulkar was spotted in the Royal Box, a space reserved for sporting elites at the Wimbledon, catching up with some of the biggest tennis stars. The Indian cricket legend later shared an iconic picture on social media, of him standing between former Swiss tennis star Roger Federer and former German lawn tennis icon Bjorn Borg. This unique crossover garnering widespread excitement on social media, among both cricket and tennis enthusiasts.
Tendulkar described the moment with a touching metaphor, ‘sweeter than strawberries and cream’. He also referred to the picture as a ‘Grand-Slam Sandwich’, acknowledging the several accolades of the two tennis giants beside him. A regular attendee at Wimbledon for several years, Tendulkar also revealed his admiration for Roger Federer and the other legends of the game he grew up watching.

Meanwhile, the two tennis legends, standing beside Tendulkar in the viral picture, have a combined 31 Grand Slam titles between each other. Roger Federer, who retired from playing in September 2022, holds a record 103 Open Era titles, the second highest in tennis history, as well as the record for the most Wimbledon singles titles with eight victories. On the other hand, 69-year-old Bjorn Borg, who retired from playing in 1993, secured five consecutive Wimbledon singles titles between 1976 and 1980.

Coming back to Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian cricket great had an eventful week in London, which started off by his high-profile visit to Lord’s. The 52-year-old unveiled a portrait of himself at the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) museum at the cricket ground in London, ahead of the start of the third Test match between India and England. Tendulkar was also honored with the unique tradition of ringing the Pavilion bell to signal the start of the day’s play.
Sachin Tendulkar was not the only Indian cricketing star, who attended this year’s Wimbledon. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and pacer Jasprit Bumrah were also previously in attendance. Tendulkar shared a memorable picture with Benedict Cumberbatch following the semi-final. Tendulkar’s linkup with Cumberbatch also reminded fans of a humorous comment the actor made in 2018, where he claimed the Indian batter would fill the role of Dr. Strange quite extraordinarily.The 52-year-old also posted photos of his meetups with fellow tennis enthusiasts, David Lauren and Pat Cash.
