It was a tough outing for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, and it appears that they have hit a slump in recent weeks. The Lakers suffered a disappointing 124-112 defeat to the Sacramento Kings on the first night of a back-to-back at the Golden 1 Center.
It was a game where the Lakers were never really in it from tip-off and were down by 12 heading into the final quarter. The Kings were extremely efficient from beyond the arc and overwhelmed the Lakers.
For the second time this campaign, the Lakers have gone on a three-match losing streak. The previous losing streak also spanned their last 11 outings. The loss dropped the Lakers to 23-14 and to fifth place in a highly competitive Western Conference standings.
It was a big win for the Kings after an impressive win over the Houston Rockets in their previous game. However, they still find themselves at 14th in the standings with a poor 10-30 record.
Ever since Luka Doncic joined the Lakers after the blockbuster trade, the Lakers’ management have built their roster around the Slovenian as they prepare for life in the post-James era. Despite turning 41, LeBron James seems to have found his top condition after a slow start to the season. James recorded 22 points, four rebounds and three assists on Sunday night’s loss.
The 2025-26 campaign represents an unprecedented 23rd season in the NBA for the four-time NBA champion. A number no player has reached in league history. It was announced that James would begin wearing a jersey patch for the remainder of the regular season to celebrate his historic 23rd NBA season. The patch features a silhouette of his signature pregame chalk toss, along with colored stripes that represent the franchises he’s played for in the Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat.

While it was a disappointing loss for the Lakers, they will look to bounce back against the Atlanta Hawks on the second night of the back-to-back.
NBA fans react to Sacramento Kings’ troll at LeBron James on social media
While the Kings are more or less a lottery team this season, it did not stop their social media team from having some fun. Their post trolling James was quick to go viral, with several fans quick to bring up the team’s current record. Here are some of the reactions:

Bad lifetime to be a queens fan. Such an irrelevant franchise. Move to Cancun so you don’t have to travel and miss watching the playoffs.

With consecutive over two strong and top teams in the west, the Kings fans will hope that this can help them gain some confidence and momentum for the rest of the campaign.
LeBron James and Luka Doncic’s availability in doubt for tomorrow
It is never easy to be available for both nights of a back-to-back in general, let alone for a 41-year-old like James. The Lakers star has made it clear that his availability for back-to-backs are optional for the rest of the season.
But to make matters worse for the Lakers, it appears that even Doncic’s availability is in major doubt for Monday after feeling some discomfort heading into Sunday’s fixture.

Before the game, I felt something while warming up. So we’re just trying to get warm and get going with tomorrow. We’ll see how I wake up. It’s somewhere in there (Inner thigh/groin area).
Luka Doncic had his inner thigh/groin area treated in the second half tonight. He said he was unsure if he was going to be able to play coming into tonight. He will have to see how he feels tomorrow for the b2b vs. ATL. pic.twitter.com/ezY0c85ogr

With Austin Reaves ruled out as well, the Lakers have a tall ask if their two superstars do not make it for their match against the Hawks. The club risk extending their losing streak to four games for the first time this season.
