The former welterweight title contender has consistently expressed his unwavering commitment to Trump, both inside and outside the octagon. It turns out Covington’s dedication to his political stance led him to take a brief hiatus from fighting during the U.S. election period.
Colby Covington’s last fight was at UFC 296, where he fell short in his title bid against Leon Edwards. Since then, he has engaged in multiple feuds with fellow fighters but hasn’t come close to securing another bout. In a recent interview, ‘Chaos’ opened up about the personal sacrifices he’s made to support Donald Trump’s election efforts.

Covington revealed that other than recovering from his broken foot from his last fight, he participated in many Trump campaigns. The American fighter has traveled with the campaign for the last 8-9 months and finally got the result last night. After Trump swept the elections, Covington took this opportunity to write a powerful message on his X.
The UFC welterweight star attended the celebration at Mar-a-Lago, where he shared a photo with UFC CEO Dana White. White, who has been a key figure in Trump’s campaign, even took the stage to address supporters following the victory. For Covington, it was certainly a memorable and proud night.

Colby Covington has been among the most controversial fighters in the last several years. The American fighter likes to play the bad guy persona and take trash talk to a level of no return. Due to his heel personality, Covington made millions of fans who were entertained by his on-mic skills.
Colby Covington has often let his fans down inside the octagon with several UFC title fight defeats. He suffered two losses to Kamaru Usman and most recently fell short against Leon Edwards at UFC 296. After the Edwards fight, Covington expressed frustration, claiming that the judge’s decision was influenced by his association with Donald Trump.

However, Covington got an array of criticism for his ridiculous claims, as it was evident that he underperformed at UFC 296. Nevertheless, with elections now over, Covington is excited to get back inside the octagon and fight for the UFC gold. It will be interesting to see if the promotion has plans for the superstar in early 2025.
