Jerry Jones has his Dallas Cowboys at the top of the sporting world in terms of valuation. The $10 billion worth NFL franchise has been a testament to how a sports team should be managed.

But it seems the 81-year-old owner and GM might not have everything under control as a lifelong fan and his family suffered an ordeal which left them vowing to never return to AT&T Stadium.

The game in question was when the Cowboys welcomed the Baltimore Ravens on September 22nd. Wenceslao Gonzalez, a lifelong fan of America’s team received tickets to the game as a birthday present from his family. As they took their first trip to catch the Cowboys live, it quickly turned sour when they became part of an argument between a man and a woman sitting with this man.

Gonzalez and his family tried to step in as this man, identified as Rafael Antonio Ramirez, was berating the woman he was with. But as they stepped in, Ramirez landed a blow on Gonzalez.

As his wife Lindsey Gonzalez tried to stop him, Ramirez allegedly threw a punch to the face and kicked her in the face as she lay motionless. Lindsey Gonzalez ended up with 12 fractures around the left side of her face. Her husband suffered a fractured foot and has been unable to go to work.

Rafael Ramirez was arrested, and charged with two counts of assault, causing bodily harm. But bizarrely, he bailed out the very next day. For the Gonzalez’s, they tried to help the woman facing the ordeal. Only to end up facing a situation that could impact the rest of their lives.

With the ordeal faced by the Gonzalez’s, they will need time to recover. But Lindsey Gonzalez made it clear to CBS News Texas;

If I saved her, then it was worth it. I never want to go back there.

Lindsey Gonzalez said

Their daughter added in that there weren’t enough police or security personnel to handle such a situation. Else, they would not have been subjected to such attacks.

When CBS News reached out to AT&T Stadium, they refuted the notion that they did not have enough security in place. But for the Gonzalez’s, they saw enough to know it is not safe for them. Fights do occur now and then during NFL games, but some situations could end up being life-altering.

Jerry Jones might have built the world’s most valuable team. But for this family, their experiences were valuable enough to know what to avoid in the future. As this news has gone viral, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves in another bad bit of press.
