When the Washington Commanders picked Jayden Daniels with their No. 2 overall pick, they knew he would be special. But they must not have even envisioned that he would lead them to the NFC Championship game for the first time in more than three decades.
Daniels showed his nerves of steel when he resorted to both his arm and his legs to keep his team driving down the field. He had to outgun the Detroit Lions if they had to have a chance at winning the game. Eventually, his patience paid off as Ford Field went dead silent seeing their team lose.
But it seems he delivered more than they could hope for with another turnover free outing. Usually, rookies and turnovers go hand in hand. But in Daniels’ situation, he did not even register a single sack against that vaunted defense. When asked at a press conference earlier what he tries to follow every game, he had a different perspective.

This sage advice from his team veterans seemingly keeps the 24-year-old grounded. He knows the world wants to coronate him as one of the best there is, but those old heads are helping him keep it level. Super Bowl winning veterans Bobby Wagner and Zach Ertz are probably leading the line in giving him some elite level sage advice.
Jayden Daniels has Dan Quinn’s Super Bowl LI experience to lean on
Jayden Daniels also can lean on another senior member of the Washington Commanders who has been to the biggest game. Head coach Dan Quinn has been to the Super Bowl but famously will always be remembered for losing it.
That game will remain etched in record books as the largest comeback in Super Bowl history. Tom Brady even trolled Quinn about it during the Commanders win against the Lions. However, that loss could help Quinn prepare his young rookie QB.
Playing the most important position in the game means he has to stay levelheaded at all times. Dan Quinn could show him how it is important to stay that way until the final whistle sounds. He and his Atlanta Falcons famously lost the plot well before the game was over.
Facing the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game, they know they are facing a team that can attack them in many ways. An outstanding run game, passing game, all-round defense and special teams. The Washington Commanders have nowhere to hide and will need to bring out their A game.
