Saints skipping Shedeur Sanders to pick Tyler Shough has fans bringing back his horrible combine performance – “Sorry excuse of an organization”
Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders hoped to land in the perfect spot despite sliding out of the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders had hoped that one of the teams would pick him in the first round of the NFL Draft. That did not materialize as team after team skipped over the son of Deion Sanders.
When the New York Giants traded back into the first round to land No. 26, Sanders’ draft party was overjoyed. But as soon as Commissioner Roger Goodell read out the name Jaxson Dart, those smiles and cheers disappeared.
The 23-year-old is trying to stay positive; however, it is evident that teams were put off by his alleged arrogance and entitled attitude during the NFL Combine and team interviews. Now that he has fallen out of the first round, fans feel it must have humbled the Buffaloes’ quarterback.
But heading into the second round, many teams had the chance to draft him with picks that would not make the investment look as risky as a first-round pick would. The Cleveland Browns had two picks, but decided to fill positions of need.
Other teams that had passed on him had other needs over another QB prospect. The next team with a need at quarterback was the New Orleans Saints, picking at No. 40. Sanders’ teammate at Colorado, Travis Hunter, had hoped his quarterback would go to the Saints at No. 9 in the first round.

This time, the Saints addressed their need for a quarterback prospect. Just that it was not Shedeur Sanders. Instead, it was Louisville QB Tyler Shough.
Fans troll Saints for picking Tyler Shough over Shedeur Sanders
Shough is a 25-year-old who spent seven seasons in college and started only in his final year. Then there were the combine highlights, which fans promptly reposted once the pick was in.
Those highlights show Tyler Shough throwing passes to wide receivers. But none of them fall in any receiver’s catching radius. Fans believe the New Orleans Saints are that bad to have selected a quarterback who started just one full year and is nowhere near Shedeur Sanders’ ability.
They trolled the Saints’ front office for wasting a pick on a player who might not even last more than a couple of seasons. They had a franchise QB prospect available, but decided to make a supposedly safer choice. Football fans have flooded social media with such comments, examples of which are below.

The Saints are the gift that keeps on giving lol. What a broken franchise .

What also surprised fans was that owner Gayle Benson is a long-time supporter of President Donald Trump, who just asked NFL teams to stop their stance of avoiding the Buffaloes QB. The Saints might not have wanted to deal with the noise that could tag along if they drafted Shedeur Sanders.
Insider believes Sanders has more options in third round
The Shedeur Sanders debacle has dominated all NFL Draft-related conversations. Now that the second round is drawing to a close, he will have to wait for a team to stop him from sliding further down. But ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter believes the options open up for the Colorado QB.

I think now we’re at the point where, unless he goes in the 3rd round, number 83 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had a discussion about him on the board at number 21, I think we may get a team that we never connected to him. The Seattle Seahawks? The Arizona Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys?
Adam Schefter said
Schefter believes that now several options open up. Teams might not have wanted to risk using a high draft pick on Sanders. But now in the third round, any of them can select him with what would be a non-risky draft pick.
Shedeur to the Seahawks, Cardinals or Cowboys???

Adam Schefter on Shedeur Sanders right NOW:
"the Giants obviously prefer Jaxson Dart. I think the Browns preferred Jaxson Dart. I think the Saints absolutely preferred Jaxson Dart.
I won't be surprised that Tyler Shough goes… pic.twitter.com/DEJwYdbukm
He mentioned that teams that were not in play for him in the first round will now come into play. Schefter mentioned that he could go to the Pittsburgh Steelers as originally thought. But the Dallas Cowboys pick ahead of the Steelers, which could be great news for franchise legend Deion Sanders.
