Sakshi Dhoni was at the Chepauk Stadium to watch Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). She came to cheer on her husband, MS Dhoni, who didn’t have any involvement in the match till the final over of the first innings. He faced only two balls, but one caused her heart to drop.

MS Dhoni came in the 19th over after Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for 98. Facing T. Natarajan, the former Indian captain went to smack the ball behind square leg. He didn’t time his shot well and the ball flew towards Abhishek Sharma at deep square leg.

Sharma dived and got his hand to the ball, but dropped it. The ball went rolling to the boundary line. Replays later showed that Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi Dhoni, was worried when the ball went in the air but celebrated as it went for a four.

Sunrisers Hyderabad lose consecutive matches as race for play-offs heat up

SRH elected to field but it backfired on them. Although Ajinkya Rahane fell early, Daryl Mitchell and Ruturaj Gaikwad batted well to get CSK to an impressive total. The CSK captain missed out on a century by just two runs.

Mitchell scored his maiden IPL fifty, taking 29 balls. He got out in a similar fashion, being caught at deep-midwicket. Shivam Dube finished the innings well for CSK, smacking 39 off 20. They set a target of 213.

SRH’s chase started off poorly, as Tushar Deshpande took the wickets of Travis Head and Anmolpreet Singh. By the 11th over SRH were 85/5, with Deshpande taking the top three. Heinrich Klaasen and Abdul Samad tried to re-stabilize the innings, but to no avail.

The duo failed to put up any impact, exposing the tail to CSK. At the end they fell short of the target by 78 runs, taking a big hit on their net run rate. Mitchell took five catches while Deshpande took four wickets

This loss means six teams are tied on 10 points on the points table, with CSK jumping to 3rd. Rajasthan Royals have virtually qualified thanks to their incredible run in the tournament.
