Last week, the Florida Panthers went back-to-back and clinched their 2nd straight Stanley Cup. Center player, Sam Bennett, was named the MVP of the playoffs for his performances. On Sunday, he would fire back at the critics of the team with an NSFW message during the trophy parade.
Bennett found himself under extreme backlash from fans on social media following his hits in the playoffs. In Game 1 of the second round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Bennett would end up hitting goaltender Anthony Stolarz.
The Maple Leafs goalie, who had already taken a puck to his face earlier in the game, would later get concussed and exit the game. Several NHL fans would demand a suspension of Bennett for this hit. Meanwhile, the Panthers are known for their intense, aggressive, and pest-like style of play in the league.
During the victory parade on Sunday, Bennett would take the mic. He would boldly address the critics and defend his team from those who complained about their style of play.
A lot of people, they don’t like the way we play. They call us dirty and they call us nasty. They call us bullies. So I would like to take this time to apologize to absolutely f****** no one…we’re the double champs we do what the f*** we want.

Bennett has seemingly made his intentions clear that he would like to stay with the team. Re-signing him along with Brad Marchand and Aaron Ekblad is one of the top priorities for the 2-time Stanley Cup champions at the moment.
NHL legend claims Brad Marchand should have won the Conn Smythe Trophy instead of Sam Bennett
Following his incredible performances in the playoffs this year, Sam Bennett was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner, an honor given to the MVP of the playoffs. An NHL legend, though thinks that Brad Marchand should have won this award instead.

Marchand, who started the season as the captain of the Boston Bruins, was shockingly traded to the Panthers in the middle of the season. The veteran forward started off slow but exploded in the playoffs.
He turned out to be the Game 2 hero in double overtime. Marchand ended up with 6 goals in the finals and finished the playoffs with 20 points (10 goals and 10 assists), 2 behind Bennett, who finished with 15 goals and 7 assists (22 points).
While speaking on The Don Cherry’s Gravepine Podcast, NHL legend Don Cherry picked Marchand in favor of Bennett. The veteran expressed that the former Bruins captain should have been given the award.
I thought Marchand was pretty good. Sure, give it to both of them. Marchand should have won.
Marchand and Bennett had some differences in the past due to the rivalry between the Bruins and the Panthers. However, since becoming teammates, they too have worked well. After winning Game 6, Bennett would call his former nemesis as the “biggest dawg” he had played with while lauding him for his efforts.
