- Sam Darnold celebrated the Seahawks' Super Bowl victory by acknowledging those who believed in him despite past doubts.
- He thanked the Seahawks organization and his teammates for their support during the season.
- Ernest Jones wore a controversial t-shirt depicting Darnold in a provocative pose, showcasing team solidarity.
Even when Sam Darnold was signing with the Seattle Seahawks before the start of this season, many were not sure if he was worth all the money they offered him.
In the end, the 28-year-old inked a $100.5 million contract, and now he holds the Vince Lombardi trophy in his hands. No one in their wildest of imaginations would have expected such an outcome. After all, he set an NFL record for playing on the most number of teams before winning the biggest game of the season as their starting signal caller.
A lot of people didn’t believe in me, but it didn’t matter because the ones that are close believed in me, including you all. I appreciate you all so much… I appreciate the belief you all had in me for signing me this past year.

It seems it was Sam Darnold’s way of trolling all the teams that gave up on him, and also thanked the Seattle Seahawks for believing in him and allowing him to play to the best of his abilities.
The signal caller named everyone from owner Jody Allen, who might not be there for long, GM John Schneider, and head coach Mike Macdonald, for instilling that belief. Then he thanked his teammates for helping him win the biggest game of his life.
Ernest Jones delivers absolute clapback at Sam Darnold and Seahawks’ critics
Sam Darnold ended his time at the podium by thanking the Seattle Seahawks defense for being the best in the league and helping them win Super Bowl LX. A while later, the heart of that unit came forward to the mic.

Quite frankly, if you got anything to say about my quarterback, my defense, my O-line, anything about the city of Seattle, I got two words for you.
Ernest Jones said
Those two expletives were enough to convey the message that Ernest Jones and his team may have thought about all season long. That is because on many an occasion, the media were quick to dismiss the Washington-based team as a threat.

There was no doubt about the defense’s capabilities, but analysts always sided with the elite quarterbacks as the ones who would end up winning it all, while repeatedly mentioning that Sam Darnold was nothing more than a journeyman QB.
Moreover, they also felt that the Seahawks’ defense was not special enough and routinely praised other units. Ultimately, this team upset most predictions, which is probably why their team leader had such a public statement ready.
Ernest Jones sported a special Sam Darnold t-shirt at the parade
When Ernest Jones gave his speech, he sported a t-shirt featuring Sam Darnold on it. To the casual observer, the piece of clothing would seem normal when teammates support their oft-criticized signal caller.
However, while speaking on Up & Adams, host Kay Adams burst out into a bout of laughter when she realized what the t-shirt actually depicted. It was totally unbecoming of the mild-mannered QB that the football world has known.
Instead, this was a graphic portraying Darnold flipping off everyone with his right hand, while holding a bottle of beer in his left. All while he had a cigarette in his mouth.

Jones revealed that he saw the concept for this shirt online and then got a batch made for himself and some of his teammates. Of course, he had his two-time Pro Bowl QB’s blessings to wear it, as the defensive star wanted to double down on the belief in his signal caller he shared all season long.
