The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off their divisional rivals Carolina Panthers on Sunday, and against all odds, the Panthers gave them tough competition before losing by a narrow 26-23. While there were several highlights from the game, an almost brawl emerged involving Panthers’ safety Sam Franklin Jr. and the Bucs edge rusher Jose Ramirez.

Tensions escalated in the tunnel after the Panthers’ narrow loss against the Bucs, as Franklin was seen needing to be restrained from confronting Ramirez. Although it remains unclear what exactly happened between the opposing teams’ players, Franklin almost got into the Tampa Bay locker room while confronting the edge rusher.

What are you going to do, bro? Tell 33 [Jose Ramirez] I wanna see his ass. On my grave, boy.

Sam Franklin Jr. was heard shouting in the tunnel as a staff member was keeping him from entering the Bucs locker room

While Ramirez did not engage at that time, his teammate, wide receiver Sterling Shepard snapped back by yelling at Franklin while making his way to his locker room.

Hey, what’s up? What the f*** wrong with you?

Sterling Shepard shouted back

However, it’s uncertain if Shepard was yelling back at the Panthers’ safety or if his frustration stemmed from a different incident that intensified in the tunnel chaos following his team’s narrow victory. The rivals are scheduled to face off against each other again in Week 17 before concluding the 2024 regular season.

Head coach Todd Bowles finally addressed the quarterback’s injury during Monday’s press conference, giving a much-needed update regarding his availability in Week 14’s crucial game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

I think he’ll be comfortable game-time. I’m not sure about his practice status during the week, though.

Todd Bowles said

Although Mayfield returned to the game after his injury in the third quarter, his performance was recorded as lackluster. He finished 21-of-33 for 235 yards a touchdown and two interceptions. His status for Week 14 hasn’t been confirmed, but after hearing Bowles’ words, fans are feeling optimistic.
