Video: Sami Zayn destroys current WWE champion following heartbreaking loss after SmackDown went off-air

The latest episode of SmackDown emanated from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. After the show went off the air, WWE hosted a dark match themed after the host city—an Edmonton Street Fight where Sami Zayn sought to regain his Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker.

These two superstars had a heated feud over the summer that ended with Breakker beating Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam. Their rivalry definitely earned this brutal stipulation, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the Alberta crowd at SmackDown. The match featured the use of plenty of weapons, such as steel chairs, trash cans, and kendo sticks.

During the match, Zayn set up a table against the turnbuckle. However, before he could use it, the Georgian caught him with a grapple and a spear. This knocked out the challenger cold and was enough for the Intercontinental Champion to retain his title. However, he was not done yet.

Bron Breakker kneeled over the Canadian’s prone body and began raining punches down on his face. He lifted him up in a military press, but Zayn was able to escape. The 40-year-old then hit his opponent with an exploder suplex and Helluva kick before sending him crashing into the table that he had set up earlier.

Kevin Owens calls Sami Zayn the most ‘unreliable’ person of all time

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens‘ wrestling journeys are intertwined throughout the WWE and even across other promotions. The two have been both best friends and bitter enemies on WWE TV. However, their alliance generally ends up with the Prizefighter betraying his friend. Despite this, the former Universal Champion still thinks that it is his friend, not him, who is the most unreliable person in the company.

Speaking on SHAK Wrestling, Kevin Owens acknowledged that it was he who often betrayed his partner. Zayn had never turned on him in the wrestling world or in real life. However, he still called him highly unreliable.

When one texted the Underdog from the Underground, he would only get back to the person three days later. By the time Zayn got back to him, it was usually too late. The Prizefighter once asked his friend for a ride to the airport, but by the time he responded, it was already two days after his flight.

He might not have stabbed me in the back, per se, on wrestling television, not that he ever stabbed me in the back in real life either, but you use the word 'reliable,' the most unreliable of all time, Sami Zayn. Many can concur.

Despite Owens asserting that his friend is undependable outside of the ring, it is worth noting that their latest on-screen split was neither of their fault. They were split up due to the former World Champion being drafted away to the blue brand.
