WWE Elimination Chamber 2025 might’ve been one of the best PLEs in recent times. While the closing angle of the Elimination Chamber rightfully grabbed the headlines, the unsanctioned match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn also played its part. As promised, the friends-turned-rivals did not hesitate from pulling punches against one another. After a brutal back-and-forth encounter, it was Owens who emerged victorious.
The Prizefighter delivered consecutive apron Powerbombs, which hurt Zayn’s already injured neck. Things could’ve turned from bad to worse for the latter if it wasn’t for Randy Orton‘s return. On the Elimination Chamber post-show, Jackie Redmond provided an update on Zayn’s health. Redmond revealed that Zayn had left the arena as officials rushed him to a hospital. The interviewer further echoed that Zayn’s neck issues were a problem going into the bout.
The former Bloodline member had injured his neck when Owens hit him with the Package Piledriver a few weeks ago on Raw. Despite not being medically cleared to compete, Zayn demanded a match against The Prizefighter. As a result, Raw GM Adam Pearce accepted his request, taking no liability for the damages that would occur.
Sami Zayn will be sidelined from WWE programming indefinitely. In fact, his participation at WrestleMania might be uncertain at this point. Needless to say, only time will tell whether the former Intercontinental Champion recovers in time for the Showcase of Immortals. However, even if he does, his plans for the event are currently in flux. Meanwhile, Kevin Owens shifts his focus to a certain Apex Predator, who’s looking for revenge.
What is next for Kevin Owens following Elimination Chamber?
Although Sami Zayn’s WWE future remains uncertain, Kevin Owens has a future one-on-one match with Randy Orton written in stone. Moreover, this bout will reportedly take place at WrestleMania 41. The year-long storyline between the former friends is expected to conclude at the Showcase of Immortals.

When Orton returned to WWE, Owens, who admired the legend, joined his side. The duo, which was known as R-KO, fought side-by-side against the likes of Logan Paul and The Bloodline. However, things changed in October last year when their friend, Cody Rhodes, teamed up with Roman Reigns at Bad Blood.
Owens turned on Rhodes while Orton tried to diffuse the situation. This only made matters worse, as The Viper inadvertently hit KO, which led to the latter brutalizing Orton. The Prizefighter took the veteran out of action by delivering a devastating Piledriver in November.
