With just weeks left for the 2024 T20 World Cup, people have started predicting and forming their squads for the event. While everyone’s team has the usual picks of Virat Kohli and Rinku Singh, Sanjay Manjrekar dropped the two.
Sanjay Manjrekar’s 15 was captained by Rohit Sharma, while out of favor KL Rahul is the vice captain. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson were the other keepers in the team. Yuzvendra Chahal and Krunal Pandya, who haven’t played for India since 2023 and 2021, were selected. His team also had two players who never played for India, Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav.
The major omissions from Manjrekar’s squad were Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh. Kohli is the highest run scorer in the history of T20I and IPL. He is also the current Orange Cap holder.
Pandya has been one of India’s most important all-rounders and also captained India in the absence of Sharma. Singh has been a huge surprise for India, with his consistent performances proving he deserved a spot in the Indian side.
Fans unimpressed by Sanjay Manjrekar’s terrible team selection
When Star Sports uploaded Sanjay Manjrekar’s team, many mocked him. They asked him to “behave”, referencing how he asked fans to behave as they booed Hardik Pandya. Many were shocked he was ready to drop such important players as well.
Check out their reactions:
The Indian squad has not yet been announced, with many expecting it in mid-May. As per reports, Kohli and Sharma may open for India. Pandya’s spot is also in danger, with the team management reportedly wanting him to bowl more.
