IPL 2021: “Don’t think anyone can be like him” – Sanju Samson reacts to MS Dhoni comparisons

Sanju Samson and MS Dhoni
Sanju Samson has a big two months ahead of him. The Kerala wicket-keeper batsman is set to captain the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise for the first time. He has the responsibility of taking over a side that finished last in the previous season and turn them into title contenders. The 26-year-old also has concerns regarding his form and inability to put up consistent performances to address.
Samson has found himself out of the Indian national team’s squad following the resurgence of Rishabh Pant. The RR skipper was picked in the tour of Australia for the T20Is, but following disappointing performances and Pant’s excellent performances in the red-ball format, the latter replaced Samson. Therefore, a crucial two months await Samson as he would look to make a statement with his bat and with his captaincy.
Sanju Samson speaks on MS Dhoni

Sanju Samson spoke to the Rajasthan Royals website about comparisons with former Indian captain and current Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni saying, “I don’t think anyone can be like MS Dhoni. I would like to be myself. Sanju Samson will be good enough.”
Samson then thanked the RR fans for their support saying, “I would like to thank each and every fan out there for supporting our team and being with us no matter what. I’ll make sure that we play some good cricket for you guys and bring a smile on your faces. Thanks a lot, guys.”
Speaking then about the team’s auction performance, “I think our team management did a fantastic job in the auction and we got almost every player we wanted. Each and every player’s role is going to be crucial in this season,” said Samson.
RR begin their IPL campaign against the Punjab Kings on the 12th of April.
