Santos chief Marcio Calves made a surprising claim about Neymar Jr. and his return to the Brazilian club, expressing belief that the forward would surely join them. The 32-year-old has been linked with a move away from his current club, Saudi PL side Al-Hilal.
Neymar Jr.‘s stint with Al-Hilal, who signed him last summer for €90 million, might come to an end in 2025. He had most recently returned from an ACL injury that he sustained in November last season. However, immediately after making a comeback, he suffered a massive setback.
He injured his thigh and has now been sidelined for another three weeks. Recent reports indicate that Al-Hilal might terminate Neymar’s contract in January, in order to provide manager Jorge Jesus with greater squad flexibility.
A termination of contract could offer the 32-year-old an opportunity to return to his home nation. Addressing recent rumors linking Neymar to his boyhood club, Marcio Calves claimed that there is a high possibility of the forward joining Santos at the end of his contract.
He also added that this would keep the forward in contention for the 2026 World Cup. However, he clarified that Santos had not entered into any form of negotiations. He stated that Neymar’s return would depend on his desire and performance.

It would be a dream for Santos fans, in case Neymar makes his return to the club. His road to Europe had started from the Brazilian outfit, before he joined Barcelona in 2013. He scored 136 goals in 225 matches for his boyhood club.
Al-Nassr star targeted by rivals Al-Hilal to replace Neymar Jr., in the next transfer window
Al-Nassr star and Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo has been surprisingly picked to replace Neymar Jr. at Al-Hilal, per reports. Neymar Jr. has failed to live up to his massive price-tag at Al-Hilal, having played just seven matches in two seasons.
Al-Hilal made a surprising choice of the Al-Nassr skipper, who has been a driving force behind the Saudi PL’s popularity. In case Neymar’s contract gets terminated in January, the club will be prepared to make a significant offer to sign the Portuguese star. Despite the move being highly speculative, Ronaldo’s lack of trophies at Al-Nassr could lure him to the rival side.
Ronaldo, in spite of his age, has been firing goals at his best. In his two seasons at Al-Nassr, he has scored 68 goals in just 79 matches. Al-Hilal had previously failed to secure a move for Ronaldo’s arch-rival, Lionel Messi last season.
