The New York Giants fans are still salty over Saquon Barkley switching allegiance to bitter rivals the Philadelphia Eagles. After the star rusher shared a congratulatory post for Steph Curry, who won the Gold Medal with the USA Men’s Olympics basketball team, fans hounded him in the comments, comparing him with Curry’s stint with the Golden State Warriors.

On Saturday, the star-studded lineup of the USA men’s basketball team faced the France team, aiming to cause an upset. They put up a valiant effort, but the USA team comprised of Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant was just too good in the end.

James finished with 14 points: 6 rebounds and 10 assists, while Durant scored 15: 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. However, the day belonged to Stephen Curry, who scored 24 points on eight three-pointers.

Saquon Barkley, who sat out during Friday’s preseason win against the Baltimore Ravens and watched Curry win his first-ever Olympic Gold Medal, praised the 36-year-old.

Giants fans troll Saquon Barkley for being disloyal to the team citing Steph Curry’s example

In March, Saquon Barkley jumped ship from New York to Philadelphia after playing the 2023 season under the franchise tag. He still recorded 962 rushing yards and six touchdowns for a Giants team plagued with quarterback issues.

The 27-year-old only wanted a big extension as a reward for his numbers, which the Giants refused, and even though owner John Mara was against letting him go, Barkley left and made every blue’s fans angry by signing with bitter NFC East rival the Eagles.

They burned the Pro Bowl rushers’ jerseys, and some oldies even claimed Barkley was dead to them. It seems there’s still a lingering animosity among the Giants fans because they once more hounded him in the comment section of his X (previously known as Twitter) post congratulating Steph Curry who has been with the Golden State Warriors his entire NBA career since being drafted in 2006, on winning gold.

Regardless of the tussle, Barkley preferred to burn the bridges with the Big Apple fans, but Hard Knocks ruined it. In one of the episodes of the popular HBO show revealed his conversation with General Manager Joe Schoen regarding his contract.

Barkley revealed he wasn’t aware that the TV crew even recorded their exchange.

At the end of the day, I also think they have control of the edits, and they could have painted me to look really bad.
Saquon Barkley said per ESPN.com

He signed a three-year deal worth $37.75 million that includes $26 million in guaranteed money. The Eagles face the New England Patriots in their second pre-season game next week.
