Saquon Barkley has had the opportunity to record a lot of firsts. The running back is a first-round pick, the first on Penn State’s leaderboard in terms of rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns. This year, Barkley is fazed with yet another career first for him. He is on a team on which he is not the sole superstar.
Following his whopping three-year contract worth $37.75 million with the Philadelphia Eagles, Barkley is in a locker room filled with the most talented individuals on the offensive side of the ball. The running back is not accustomed to making the playoffs every year, in fact, during his tenure with the New York Giants, only once has the squad won over six games and won a single playoff game.
He gets a significant upgrade at the quarterback position from Daniel Jones to Jalen Hurts. It’s nearly the equivalent of upgrading from a Subaru to a Mustang. It comes as no surprise that the running back opted for the Eagles as his next team because the wide receiver room is significantly more exciting than his former team. He plays on a team that features the likes of A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert.
Saquon Barkley is the latest addition to a team that featured six Pro Bowlers in 2024
Barkley’s daughter was right about one thing, the running back is going to be winning a lot of games from this year onwards. He expressed his optimism about joining the Eagles via NBC Sports Philadelphia.
The biggest thing that struck me is our first 7-on-7 huddle. It's not a bad group to be out there with. And that's not even including the offensive linemen. There's a lot of talent. There was a lot of talent before I got here. I feel like I only can add to that.Saquon Barkley said
Definitely not a bad scenario to be in, the Eagles now feature one of the scariest offensives in the NFL.
Despite the talent on the roster, Saquon Barkley understands that talent alone does not take you to the Super Bowl.
But at the same time you can't look too far...that's the beauty of coming in every single day, working with each other, pushing each other. And that's only going to make when the regular season get here and camp get here that much easier.Saquon Barkley added
The Eagles had a terrific regular season run in the first 10 weeks of the season, however, the team went downhill after that and slid from the first spot in the NFC East to the second.
Jalen Hurts and Co got bounced out in the Wild Card Round by a motivated Baker Mayfield and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team has begun to work together in order to avenge their loss, this year, the Eagles have more star power than ever. There is no excuse for them. Barkley understands the pressure on the team and the offensive core has already begun to put in the work to achieve its goal.
