Super Bowl LIX saw the Philadelphia Eagles make mincemeat out of back-to-back champions the Kansas City Chiefs. The game was billed as the latter’s best chance to be the first to three-peat. With the likes of Taylor Swift expected to attend, the odds heavily favored her boyfriend’s team.
Theories of the NFL colluding with officials to ensure they continue to enjoy the fanbase created by Taylor Swift floated around. Commissioner Roger Goodell dismissed those theories and so did the NFL Referees Association.
However, many still continued to believe that Swifties will tilt the game in the Chiefs favor. The likelihood of the NFL not wanting to anger those new fans and the possibility of a three-peat helping the league usher into a new era was high.
At Caesars Superdome, Swift did not have the luxury of being in an enclosed luxury suite. Rather it was open, and the boos from the Philadelphia Eagles fans were loud and clear. She looked confused as to why they would boo her. They were not happy that coming from Pennsylvania, she was cheering against them.
They showed her on the jumbotron, and she got booed. I don’t get it. I don’t get why she was getting hate there. She’s there supporting her significant other and she’s made the game bigger. Her being a part of its only helping that, so I don’t get the slack that she’s getting.

This was Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley speaking on The Howard Stern Show. He believes the Grammy Award winning artist did not deserve that response. Especially after how she has helped elevate the game.
Saquon Barkley believes Taylor Swift has done a lot for the NFL
The 1st Team All-Pro running back added that as the NFL is looking to expand globally, Taylor Swift will help in that expansion. He has a point as the league does not have a globally known superstar. The pop icon is the only link most of the fans across the globe have with the game.
Since she has come in, a legion of new fans have embraced the league. Be it those who never had an interest in the game or just casual sports fans, they came to know what the NFL means. Therefore, the league could go out of its way to try and convince her boyfriend Travis Kelce to delay his retirement.
Once he hangs up his cleats, Swift won’t be around the NFL anymore. But the way they booed her did cause Kelce some heartbreak. It could factor in his decision to leave the game. If his famous significant other is not respected, he might not want her to be around the league anymore.
Taylor Swift is usually never booed. Eagles’ safety CJ Gardner-Johnson has faced the wrath of her fans after he seemingly dissed both Kelce and Swift after Super Bowl LIX. The NFL wouldn’t want something like that to happen to the rest of the league.
