Running back Saquon Barkley left the New York Giants in the offseason and headed for the Philadelphia Eagles. The 27-year-old from The Bronx had made an instant impact with the Eagles, thereby adding heat to the bad-blood rumors.
In his debut, Barkley played a crucial role in defeating the Green Bay Packers in a slick and slippery outfield in Sao Paolo. He had 109 rushing yards and three total touchdowns: two rushing, and one receiving. He also had two catches for 23 yards.
Meanwhile, the Giants had another bad day at the office. The New York team failed to even record one TD as the Minnesota Vikings chewed through them with a 28-6 win. The QB Daniel Jones was booed off the field after the game and then his jersey was immolated.
Nevertheless, Barkley has come out quashing any such bad blood with his ex-team. He revealed that his ex-coach Brian Daboll had called him before the debut to wish him well and he did the same.
I know a lot of people think there's like bad blood or whatever between me and New York when in reality it's not that at all.Saquon Barkley told NBC Philadelphia

Barkley also wished the team success, hoping that they would bounce back from the Week 1 disaster against the Vikings. He further pointed out that he spent six years in New York and has made some good friends, adding that he would like to see them back in form and playing well. Barkley also reached out to Jones after the game, pumping him with special advice.
Saquon Barkley named NFC Offensive Player of the Week
After a stellar game against the Packers, Barkley has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. The three TDs were the most by an Eagles player on debut since Terrell Owens vs. Giants in 2004. He also became the first Eagles player in 30 years to record 100 rushing yards in his debut.

D’Andre Swift was the last Eagles player to be awarded the title. He snatched up the honor after an impeccable show against the Minnesota Vikings in 2023. Herschel Walker was the first-ever Eagles player to do so in 1992.
Barkley earned the prestigious Player of the Week award three times with the Giants: in Week 11 of 2018, Week 16 of 2019, and Week 1 of 2022. Surprisingly, his first NFC Player of the Week came after his impressive performance that included a 142-yard scrimmage game against the Eagles.
