Saquon Barkley recruits the best free agent quarterback for ex-team Giants to sign
Former Giant Saquon Barkley suggested that if the New York wants a quarterback, then they should sign free agent Jameis Winston.

Even though the relationship between Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants ended on not-so-good terms, the star running back still has a soft spot for his old team. Barkley keeps tabs on the Giants and knows quite well that they are lacking a quarterback, and he knows just the guy who fits the profile.
Barkley arrived in New Orleans with the Philadelphia Eagles for the Super Bowl. On Monday, he sat down to answer questions when Jameis Winston showed up as a representative of the FOX Network.
Winston, who is currently a free agent, asked the All-Pro rusher which team should sign him because he has no job.
I think New York needs a quarterback right now.
Saquon Barkley replied
Jameis rightfully countered by asking which New York team because the Big Apple has two: the New York Giants and the New York Jets.
The Giants.

There’s also the Bills in Buffalo, but they don’t need a quarterback until Josh Allen is around.
The Giants need a quarterback as Saquon Barkley mentioned
Barkley left the Giants last year because of the constant mediocre results and the owners’ not fulfilling his contract demands. Midway through the 2024 season, the Giants benched and then cut $40 million/year quarterback Daniel Jones.

Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito shared time at the quarterback spot but barely made any positive impact as the Giants finished with a 3-14 record and last in the NFC East.
The Giants are likely to draft a new quarterback by spending their third overall pick on the first day. ESPN’s draft analyst Mel Kiper linked Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders to the Giants as one of the favorites for their future franchise quarterback.
#NFL Mock Draft season is officially upon us; Daniel Jeremiah and Mel Kiper Jr. dropped their first official mock drafts! Both draft analysts have the #Steelers selecting a WR at No. 21 overall.

The Giants representatives met with Sanders during the East-West Shrine Bowl in January and were impressed by his skills and in-depth knowledge of the game.
But quarterback isn’t the only problem position for the Giants to fill. They need a left tackle, a WR2, and cornerbacks. So Barkley’s advice of signing Jameis Winston makes sense.
It’s true that Winston threw 12 interceptions and fumbled the ball 5 times from 7 starts for the Cleveland Browns last season but the veteran can play as a bridge quarterback while they build around star receiver Malik Nabers who recorded 1204 yards from a league-leading 109 receptions and seven touchdowns in his rookie season and made the Pro Bowl.
Winston earned $4,000,000 in Cleveland and might settle for a similar contract or even less for one season. A high-draft-pick quarterback would cost the Giants much more. There’s always value to be had in late rounds. CFP Champions Will Howard and ACC’s single-season passing yards record holder Kyle McCord are late second round and third-round picks, maybe Joe Schoen can target one of the two after building his team up.
While the Giants struggled to win games, Barkley churned out 2000+ scrimmage yards, shattering records for the Eagles organization. He will face the Kansas City Chiefs who are aiming for a three peat.
