Regardless of how things ended between Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants, the star running back has always had a special place for his former teammates and fans. And they reciprocate his sentiments in every manner, whose testament is their notable words for him after the grand Super Bowl triumph.

Barkley didn’t just leave the Giants, he won the Vince Lombardi Trophy in his debut Super Bowl appearance with divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. This was preceded by an MVP-worthy regular season with more than 2,000 yards and fans haven’t stopped criticizing the Giants for disrespecting Barkley and burning all the bridges with him by letting him leave after contract disputes.

Despite the ugly turn of events, Barkley has only received love from his former teammates and fans whenever he encountered them. During the appearance on Jimmy Fallon‘s The Tonight Show on Tuesday with quarterback Jalen Hurts, Barkley was asked if he received any texts or calls from the Giants organization.

After the game, so many guys and people from that organization reached out to me and were super happy. One, for my birthday, and see me hold that Lombardi Trophy up because they know the hard work that I put in.

Though his teammates were not happy to lose him after Barkley left New York, they understood why it happened. And now as it’s about to be a year since his departure, his relationship with them remains as affable as before.

The Super Bowl-winning running back also addressed the Hard Knocks clip that went viral in the early 2024 season, where Giants co-owner John Mara told his General Manager Joe Schoen that he wouldn’t be happy with his best player joining the Eagles. And since that’s precisely what happened, Mara was not pleased, which was even compounded by the Giants’ 3-14 season end.

That clip is in the past and I’m happy to be an Eagle. I look at it as like Marshall Faulk — one of my favorite running backs — he played for the Colts, but he’s remembered as a Ram. Now I’m just trying to be remembered as an Eagle.

Similar to Barkley, Marshall Faulk also won his Super Bowl ring with the Rams and he’s hardly been associated with the Indianapolis Colts. As for the All-Pro running back, he has just begun his rise to success in Philadelphia despite being the best player on the Giants’ roster for six seasons.
