Saquon Barkley’s debut in the NFC Championship with the Philadelphia Eagles seems to have been just what he needed to enhance his confidence in the team as they approach Super Bowl LIX. In light of this achievement, he extended his best wishes to the team he will face, acknowledging that the current Eagles roster is not the same one that fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022.
Barkley made the best decision of his professional career when he said ‘yes’ to the Eagles after leaving the New York Giants. The 2024 campaign has been one for the books for him, recording 2,005 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 345 rushing attempts. On top of that, he is coming off an extraordinary performance of 477 stats and five touchdowns in the Eagles’ commanding 55-23 victory over the Washington Commanders.
The star running back, who is also among the five finalists for the NFL MVP, has been an unstoppable force throughout the season and the biggest reason behind Philly’s top-ranked offense. While preparing for his first Super Bowl game, he sent a stern warning to the two-time Super Bowl-defending champions, who now are preparing for their third consecutive Super Bowl game.
“We’re the Philadelphia Eagles, man,” Barkley told the reporters after his stellar AFC championship performance, via SiriusXM.

Interestingly, the star running back didn’t specifically name the Chiefs as his bold statement came before the AFC Championship game. All eyes are set on the highly anticipated Super Bowl clash, where Barkley’s offensive explosiveness will face the Chiefs’ strong defense, which allowed eight-fewest rushing yards to its opponents throughout the season.
Andy Reid acknowledges challenge posed by Eagles’ offense and Saquon Barkley
Since the Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl before the Chiefs, head coach Andy Reid didn’t take the rest and celebrate following Kansas City’s historic AFC Championship that sent them to the fifth Super Bowl in the last six years. Instead, he began devising a gameplan and strategy for facing the Eagles, acknowledging the threat Barkley and Philly’s offensive line presented.
“They’ve got a running back that, you know, arguably is one of the best in the history of the game,” said Reid about Barkley. “So that’s a heck of an offense, another huge challenge for us.”
The Chiefs are not underestimating their upcoming opponent, especially the All-Pro running back. The stakes are really high for them to succeed in achieving the historic three-peat and establish the Chiefs as arguably the greatest dynasty ever.
