It appears Saquon Barkley is living by the phrase “Oh, to be young again!” as he is reliving his rookie days with his new team, the Philadelphia Eagles. The running back has been in the league for about six years now and is counted among the top offensive players yet he doesn’t feel like the seasoned veteran he ought to become.
With his seventh season in the league, Barkley is starting a new chapter with the Eagles, whom he joined this offseason as a crucial offensive weapon. He is introduced to new teammates, new coaches, and a new offense which he has been learning. As the star running back adjusts to the new environment around him, he “feels like a rookie again.”
It’s a fresh start, and I feel like a rookie again, getting to know everybody here, learning about the culture, and buying into the culture. I’m feeling like this is home.said Saquon Barkley as per Chris Franklin of NJ Advance Media
We’re all just coming in, buying in, trying to learn the playbook, learning the system, trying to get better each day. You know there is a lot of talent, a lot of talent before I got here. I feel I can only add to that.Saquon Barkley added
As the team’s offseason program runs in motion, it’s the time of the year when the new players get familiar with the new system. The Eagles aim for a bounce back from the struggling period down the stretch that eventually cost them the season, with a fresh start with the team.
Saquon Barkley embraces fresh start with Eagles
Parting ways with a team with whom one played for six years is sure isn’t easy, but not for Barkley as he claimed the transition from the Giants to the Eagles has faded and he’s rather enjoying the fresh start. He also spoke highly of his new teammates from Philly, referring to them as ‘better players.’
I love being here. You come in, and you buy into the culture. When you have some of your better players working hard and pushing each other, everybody else has no reason but to follow.said Saquon Barkley about Philly
He also appreciated the offense led by quarterback Jalen Hurts along with new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. The Eagles are the third favorite with +700 odds to score a triumph over the NFC and advance to the Super Bowl LIX.
