Saraya has been a hot topic among professional wrestling fans in recent months, with rumors swirling about a potential return to WWE. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that the former AEW Women’s World Champion’s contract had been terminated early at her request. As a result, speculation has been growing about her possible comeback to the Stamford-based promotion.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the 32-year-old addressed the possibility of appearing at WWE’s Evolution premium live event this weekend. She revealed that, due to a neck injury, she was unable to participate in the inaugural edition of the show back in 2018. However, she acknowledged that an all-women’s PLE is a significant milestone and confirmed that she would consider attending the event in Atlanta this Sunday.

It’s like a bittersweet thing, because the first one, I couldn’t be on it because of my neck. So if I had the opportunity to be on this all-female pay-per-view, of course, yeah, I would think about it.

In 2018, the former Divas Champion was under contract with WWE and served as the GM of the SmackDown brand. However, a neck injury she suffered the previous year forced her to step away from in-ring competition. As a result, the star formerly known as Paige was unable to compete at the inaugural Evolution event. Now, as an active wrestler once again, she could very well step into the ring at this year’s edition.

Moreover, since Saraya is a free agent in professional wrestling right now, the chances of her WWE return at Evolution are pretty high. The promotion is set to host a Women’s Battle Royal at the event, where the winner would receive a World Title opportunity at Clash at the Castle 2025, also known as Clash in Paris. The company could add some names, including the former AEW star, as a surprise entrant in the match.

Saraya revealed her regrets about her AEW run

Saraya made her debut at AEW Grand Slam in 2022, making headlines across the professional wrestling world. It marked the long-awaited in-ring return of ‘The Anti-Diva’ after years away from competition. However, in a recent interview reflecting on her AEW run, the Briton opened up about some regrets she has regarding her time with the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, the former AEW Women’s Champion admitted that she felt she was holding herself back during her time in AEW. The 32-year-old revealed that a lingering fear of reinjuring her neck—and potentially facing catastrophic consequences—led her to play it safe in the ring. As a result, she believes her performances came across as lackluster during that period.

The only thing I regret about my AEW run is that I wish I tried harder when it comes to the wrestling side of things. I think I went too easy on myself, because I was a little bit worried that something would happen like WWE, where I would f*ck up and my neck would get hurt again. And I was too overly cautious.

Moreover, the former Divas Champion shared a surprising incident involving AEW President Tony Khan. She revealed that upon her debut, Khan informed her she would be returning to in-ring competition within two weeks. This came as a shock, as she hadn’t wrestled in nearly five years at that point. As a result, she found it extremely difficult to shake off the ring rust and prepare herself for such a quick turnaround.

Saraya says she misses her old in-ring character and would rather return to WWE as Paige

During her time in WWE, Saraya was known as Paige, a name that became hugely popular among the WWE Universe. Even today, many fans continue to refer to her by that name despite her success in AEW. However, upon making her AEW debut, she chose to embrace her real name, Saraya.

In the same interview, Saraya admitted that she misses being Paige and would like to revisit that character in the future. The veteran added that if she ever returns to the Stamford-based promotion, she would prefer to come back as Paige rather than using her real name.

Whereas Paige, I mean, she’s generational. I love her. She’s bad ass, tough as nails, just screaming all the time. I loved being her. She was a f*cking badass, and that felt more like an elevated version of myself.

Paige’s ‘Anti-Diva’ gimmick was a one-of-a-kind character in WWE. She made her debut in 2014, during an era dominated by traditional Divas. However, the 32-year-old brought a unique style and attitude to the women’s division, helping to lay the foundation for what would eventually become the “Women’s Revolution” in WWE.
