Saturday Night’s Main Event is next weekend, and the fans now have a major reason to tune into the show. On this Friday’s SmackDown, a slightly perturbed Cody Rhodes pulled up to the Wembley Arena in London with a mixed reaction from the British crowd.
He acknowledged the polarizing atmosphere while also wondering if he got complacent against Drew McIntyre or if the latter was just that good. The rabid folks made their intentions crystal clear about cheering ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ over ‘The American Nightmare’, who got trolled earlier on by McIntyre in the opening promo, where he said that the “vanilla midget QB1 era” was over.
Circling back to Rhodes, he mentioned how he’ll crawl his way back to the top the hard way after McIntyre invoked a no rematch clause for the ex-AEW EVP.

The North Carolina native declared himself for the 2026 Royal Rumble match and vowed to go for the three-peat, a feat achieved by only ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in WWE before. ‘The Prodigal Son’ eventually turned his attention toward Jacob Fatu, who assaulted the 40-year-old in the closing moments of that Three Stages of Hell match a couple of weeks ago.

Rhodes affirmed that Fatu had the biggest receipt coming his way that he’s ever handed out to anyone. ‘The Quarterback of WWE’ invited the ‘Samoan Werewolf’ to meet him in the ring, or he would have no problem finding him backstage. Fatu later ambushed local favorite Kit Wilson before calling out Cody Rhodes to settle their differences face-to-face.
The 2-time Undisputed WWE Champion didn’t take long to answer the call. Rhodes and Fatu started brawling in the ring, but the security personnel were nimble enough to break things up. Just as Rhodes set himself free amidst a swarm of men and launched into Fatu, the live feed cut to a commercial break. It miffed several fans online, who slammed the timing of the advert.
Nonetheless, after returning on air, WWE showed a replay of what had just transpired out there. In its immediate aftermath, the commentators announced that Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu had been made official for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
With neither man in a position to be compromised, the fans have already arrived at a conclusion that no matter how good the match turns out to be, it’s more than likely to end in a disqualification.
Who will earn the WWE title shot at Saturday Night’s Main Event?
The leading contender to close out the evening at Saturday Night’s Main Event is the Fatal-4-Way No. 1 contender match for the Undisputed WWE title. Four qualifying matches on this week’s SmackDown saw Randy Orton beat The Miz, Trick Williams get past Matt Cardona, Damian Priest overcome Solo Sikoa, and Sami Zayn avenge his US title loss from a few months ago to Ilja Dragunov in a fantastic main event.

These men will duke it out at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and the winner will take on Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. McIntyre confronted Zayn backstage before his match and gloated about holding an 11-0 win/loss record over the former ‘Honorary Uce’.

‘The Chosen One’ asserted that the result wouldn’t be any different if they met again. Now that ‘The Great Liberator’ has gotten one step closer to challenging the Scotsman for the ultimate prize, he does have a great chance to make it through the upcoming Fatal-4-Way bout scheduled for Saturday Night’s Main Event in Zayn’s hometown of Montreal.
