Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has named Matteo Berrettini a tennis ambassador. In this role, the Italian star will inspire young players and promote the growth of tennis worldwide.
The PIF has recently made big moves in tennis. It became the official naming partner for the men’s and women’s world rankings and formed partnerships with several tournaments. This highlights its commitment to expanding the sport.
In January, Rafael Nadal joined as an ambassador for the Saudi Tennis Federation. He expressed excitement about training children and building interest in tennis. Berrettini, who played in Riyadh at the 2022 Diriyah Tennis Cup, will also focus on inclusivity and providing opportunities for all.

Berrettini has had a strong comeback in 2024, helping Italy win the Davis Cup again. He hopes to regain the form that took him to the Wimbledon final in 2021.
Matteo Berrettini gets nominated for 2024 comeback player of the year
Matteo Berrettini ended his 2023 season early due to an ankle injury. The injury forced him to retire in the second round of the US Open. He planned to make his return at the 2024 Australian Open after teaming up with coach Francisco Roig. However, he had to withdraw just before his first match.

Berrettini’s ATP ranking dropped to No. 154, his lowest of the season. He made his comeback in March at a Challenger event in Phoenix, where he reached the final. Later, he played in Miami but lost a close three-set match to Andy Murray. He returned to winning ways by claiming the ATP 250 title in Marrakech.
The Italian ended his 2024 season on a high note. He played a key role in helping Italy retain the Davis Cup title, winning important singles matches in the final rounds.
Berrettini had a strong year overall, winning three ATP 250 titles on clay in Marrakech, Gstaad, and Kitzbuhel. These victories increased his total career singles titles to 10. He also reached a grass-court final in Stuttgart, finishing the season with an impressive 32-12 record.
