Former Houston Texans defensive stalwart JJ Watt is a huge proponent of the athletic abilities of NFL players.

JJ Watt has never backed down throughout his NFL career. A trait that won him the Defensive Player of the Year award three times and will likely pave the way to a Hall of Fame jacket. Even after retirement, the former Houston Texans superstar continues with his style as he calls out former NBA player Austin Rivers.

While speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Austin Rivers made an interesting comparison between the NBA and the NFL.

Where the best athletes in the world are, that's us. I can take 30 players right now in the NBA and throw them in the NFL. You cannot take 30 NFL players and put them in the NBA.
Austin Rivers said

Essentially, Rivers suggested that NBA players can take on the rigors of the NFL easily. In comparison, NFL players will struggle due to their lack of conditioning whereas NBA players can continue running and scoring for 48 minutes. To this, former All-Pro Watt sent out a response through his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

JJ Watt‘s savage response is probably enough to keep Rivers quiet. After all, that is a highly decorated NFL player talking to another, whose name was famous because of his head coach father.

Additionally, as Pat McAfee corrected Rivers, an NFL player goes through a lot more physical exertion in those 60 minutes compared to any other sport. The physical toughness and stamina are second to none. Which is why JJ Watt suggested that Rivers might not get a job in either sport, something Watt can still do.

JJ Watt raises $1,000,000 through his charity softball game

During his storied career, JJ Watt won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for his work off the field. Even after retiring, the former defensive end has not stopped performing the good deeds. He recently hosted his 7th JJ Watt Charity Classic softball game after a 5-year gap and ended up raising $1,000,000 for after-school athletics.

The game usually pits Watt and his band of former Houston Texans players against some from the current team. However, the sold-out crowd came to watch as most of the superstars were on the field. From Watt’s former teammate and current head coach DeMeco Ryans to former Texans great wide receiver Andre Johnson. From the current squad, CJ Stroud, Stefon Diggs, Will Anderson Jr. etc. all played.

JJ Watt continues the good work as much as he can. After burning the gridiron for 12 years, he is burning his energy through charity, so that children can take to sports after classes.
