Scottie Pippen advocates for a more lenient approach towards NBA fans involved in heated exchanges with players.
Scottie Pippen parades for fewer penalties for NBA fans
The first appearance of Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen on the esteemed PBD podcast has gone viral after the wild claims made by the former champion sparked backlash. Nevertheless, the entire 120-minute-long discourse is very interesting and riveting, if nothing else. However, one particular comment from the retired 59-year-old athlete stirred up controversy within the NBA community.
Pippen opined that “soft” and “sensitive” players have ruined the game for fans in the arena, who can no longer heckle their teams for underperforming. Explaining how he misses the interaction with annoying and overzealous fans during road games—which, in turn, would fire him up—Pippen supported the notion of not kicking paying customers out of their seats.
The segment began with a discussion about the NBA’s viewership dropping significantly this year, hitting an all-time low. Afterwards, the host of Valuetainment, Patrick Bet-David, played a clip of journalist Colin Cowherd ripping apart the NBA and comparing it to the Democratic Party to draw a reaction from the six-time NBA champ.
While there’s some undeniable heft to Pippen’s remarks, his suggestion isn’t foolproof. Aggravated fans can cross lines in the heat of the moment, which can disrupt the game or, worse, hurt the players themselves. On the other hand, booting out your most loyal customers can’t be good for business. Pip’s advocacy for keeping fans involved throughout the entire 48-minute experience isn’t a bad idea, after all.
Scottie Pippen picks Magic Johnson as his GOAT over MJ
When asked about who Scottie Pippen‘s greatest of all time was, he didn’t shy away from singing high praises of Showtime Los Angeles Lakers’ Magic Johnson. Although rivals at one period of time, Pippen revealed why he holds Magic in such high regard.
This striking statement caught the fans by surprise, since Pippen’s teammate, Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the GOAT. Moreover, Pippen went on to affirm that he and Jordan were never great friends and the last conversation he had with MJ was during COVID. The severity of their rift was truly captured when Scottie stated that he would prefer $100 million over a chance to win a 7th title with MJ.
