When fans debate the greatness of Michael Jordan and LeBron James, they bring up Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, Dwyane Wade, and all the other players who won championships with either of the two GOATs.

Those debates usually engulf every other media outlet, as it tends to draw the most viewers. On one hand are those who argue that His Airness’ greatness far surpasses what James or any other player has done.

When those supporters defend their superstar’s standing in the GOAT race, they often claim that the King has had to chase rings at every avenue, and always had other All-Stars at his disposal to help him win titles.

On the contrary, James’ fans point to how the presence of Pippen, Rodman, Toni Kukoc, and others on the Chicago Bulls teams of the mid-1990s essentially created a superteam for Jordan.

My success as a team is more successful than LeBron. I got 6 rings… I don’t know. You want individual accolades, or you want championships? Cuz I didn’t chase mines.

Scottie Pippen said

This was the Hall of Famer’s response when PBD Podcast host Patrick Bet-David asked Pippen whether he thought he was ahead of LeBron James when it comes to team success.

The second part of Scottie Pippen’s answer was when Bet-David asked whether a team’s GM would pick him over the four-time champion. The Bulls great’s answer indicates that he believes he would bring more titles to a team, rather than the individual accolades James has accomplished.

Pippen believes that he did not chase after championships, unlike how the league’s all-time leading scorer has done, now that he has joined the Philadelphia 76ers to try to win another one.

Scottie Pippen reveals he and Michael Jordan were not friends

After talking about his legacy, and it is ahead of LeBron James, Patrick Bet-David shifted to Scottie Pippen‘s relationship with former teammate Michael Jordan.

Great teammate, but we just never were great friends.

Pippen replied

The host kept probing if the two Chicago Bulls teammates did any activities together, such as simple things that teammates do. Whether it was golf or having dinner together, Pippen was adamant that they were not friends.

Then, Bet-David asked whether the two worked out at Jordan’s massive Chicago mansion that was on sale recently. The seven-time All-Star revealed that they did work out a few times during the final three championships. But it was not a regular thing.

These revelations left the show’s host stunned, probably wondering how two colleagues could not create a relationship beyond their work hours. After all, their collective effort and that of their teammates won the Bulls six championships.

Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan’s relationship seems to have recovered from their previous beef

These answers may have stunned Patrick Bet-David, but there is no doubt that Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan were never really friends. The latter revealed later that his teammate not even offering condolences after his father’s murder strained their relationship for good.

But what made it worse was when Jordan’s son got into a relationship with his teammate’s ex-wife. At that time, the 1995 NBA steals leader was publicly lashing out at Jordan.

Now, though, after Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen ended their relationship, it seems the latter’s ex-husband has eased off on his criticism of his former teammate.

That also explains why he has changed the narrative on any comparisons involving James, with this latest example indicating that Scottie Pippen is ready to put him above the 76ers’ superstar.
