Scottie Pippen threw shade at Michael Jordan by publicist admitting Kobe Bryant as a ‘BETTER’ player

Kobe Bryant and Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Jordan

Prior to the publication of his biography, Unguarded, Scottie Pippen spoke in-depth with Thuzio on a variety of subjects from his Hall of Fame career, including Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. While his remarks against Jordan have already garnered media attention ahead of the book’s release, there were a few snappy responses that stood out as well. According to Pippen, the late Los Angeles Lakers icon was “better than Michael Jordan,” based on the interview. We all expected Jordan’s former partner to support him because he is widely regarded as the best basketball player to have ever lived, but he didn’t.

Kobe Bryant is the NBA GOAT, according to Scottie Pippen, who said as much in an interview with Thuzio. He said that he performs better than the late NBA great when he watches films of Jordan. Pippen said that despite Bryant’s best efforts, he actually outperformed the six-time NBA champion. The five-time NBA champion, in Pippen’s opinion, “worked so hard” for the same thing. Bryant played for North Carolina directly after high school and didn’t have a coach like Dean Smith, according to Scottie.

A remarkable player for one of the NBA’s most illustrious teams, Kobe Bryant has created an impressive career. He was the league MVP, the Finals MVP three times, and the Lakers’ all-time leading scorer. He also played a significant role on five different Lakers championship teams in the early 2000s . Bryant is acclaimed as one of the best players in NBA history as he eventually become one of the league’s most efficient scorers to ever play. In 2003, 2007 and 2008, he won three scoring titles as a result of his remarkable footwork, agility, strength, and shot-making.

On the all-time scoring list for the NBA, only Karl Malone, LeBron James, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are ahead of him. The 20 seasons Bryant spent with the Lakers are extensively observed in the legacy and history of the franchise. Bryant was a member of the NBA 75th anniversary squad as well as the Class of 2020 for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s posthumous induction. In the first part of his career, Bryant wore No. 8, but in 2006, he switched to No. 24 and  performed admirably overall, collecting 16,777 points wearing No. 8 and 16,866 points when wearing No. 24. The Lakers raised both numbers to the rafters as a way of honoring his career when he retired.

Scottie Pippen’s interesting take on ‘Kobe OR MJ’

In the interview, Scottie Pippen also discussed his recollections of the All-Star game, the current Bulls lineup, and his opinions of Bryant. Pippen remarked that he thought Bryant was a wonderful person who frequently called him and other players to “pick their brains.” The Lakers great was described by him as a “very intelligent guy,” and he regrets that he never told Kobe this. He added: “Kobe strived so hard to be Michael Jordan. When I go back and look at his videos, I say to myself, ‘Damn, he was better than Michael Jordan.” Scottie admits that no one else could defeat them on the floor despite everything he said about Jordan.

Phil Jackson was the head coach for both Bryant and Pippen, so it is not unexpected that Kobe was able to turn to the legendary Bulls coach for a variety of professional life guidance. While some may recall Pippen as Jordan’s backup on the dynasty Bulls teams and Pippen may have felt disrespected during ‘The Last Dance’, he is one of the greatest players in NBA history. You may agree that both Kobe and Michael Jordan were the best players to ever walk the court, regardless of whatever side of the Kobe vs. MJ debate you lean toward.
