Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley‘s beef is an old story in the NBA. After leaving the Chicago Bulls in 1998, Pippen joined Barkley and Hakeem Olajuwon at the Houston Rockets in hopes of another championship. But much to his disappointment the super team turned out to be a failure. The losses led to frustrations between Barkley and Pippen. Now, years later as Pippen has spoken about the topic again, another member of the roster Eddie Johnson has chimed in.
Many takes of Scottie Pippen from the PBD podcast have caught attention on the internet. While discussing his career, the Bulls legend also recalled the shenanigans of Charles Barkley. Pippen called out Chuck for not waking up early for workouts due to his love for ‘nightlife’. Another teammate, Eddie Johnson agreed with Pippen but also praised Barkley. Johnson explained the beef between the duo.
Charles had a way about him, he liked to go out, he liked to hang out… But he would still play hard. But Scottie very sensitive in that nature. He and Charles kinda butted heads.

Despite disclosing the inside view of the give-and-take, Johnson also prompted that the beef is not serious anymore. The former All-Star believed that Pippen talked about the time purely for the sake of views. Johnson admitted that Pippen has been more active than ever since the end of his career. Despite there being some truth in Johnson’s view, Pippen and Barkley have heckled for a long time.

In 2021, Pippen again spoke about Barkley and disclosed he never apologized to him. The six-time champion still seemed upset even four years ago as he taunted Chuck for never fighting a ‘Black Man unless referees are involved’. The star certainly has no regrets about his faulty relations with a teammate and long-time beef.
Michael Jordan told Scottie Pippen to not team up with Charles Barkley
Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan had one of the best careers in the NBA and dominated the 90s. Jordan at the time was not a fan of Barkley. Hence, as Pippen was moving on from Chicago, the NBA legend warned his former teammate about Barkley’s lack of dedication. After learning his lesson with the Rockets, Pippen recalled the incident.
Pippen was highly irritated by Barley during the 1998 season. The star requested a trade just a year after and also called out Barkley publicly for the absence of his game-winning mindset. While talking to ESPN, Pippen stated that Barkley was the sole reason for his departure from the team. The star regretted not taking Jordan’s advice into consideration.
I probably should’ve listened to Michael a year ago when he said that Charles will never win a championship because he doesn’t show any dedication. He’s a very selfish guy. He doesn’t show the desire to want to win. That’s my reason for wanting to get away from playing with him.

That was just the beginning of the one on one. Barkley later even responded by asking for an apology from Pippen for leaving. But instead, Chuck received a fiery response from the legendary forward. Since then, the duo has gotten into a ton of arguments. But it seems that there is still long we go before the pair is on talking terms.
