The year 2024 saw Scottie Scheffler dominate on the golf courses. The World No.1 picked up several victories and mesmerized the fans with his performances. However, there was one moment at the PGA Championship that he would like to forget.
During the second major championship of the year, Scheffler was shockingly arrested while trying to make his way through the Valhalla Course. On Monday, Netflix would share a clip of this arrest from the upcoming season of Full Swing. In this, Scheffler admitted that he was “freaking out” at that moment.
The 28-year-old was arrested before the second round of the PGA Championship when he tried to drive around the scene of a fatal crash. He was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic.
The golfer would return to the field later on and dropped a 5-under par score for the second round. A few weeks, all charges against him were dropped.
With season 3 of the Full Swing set to be released on Tuesday, February 25, Netflix would share a “sneak peek” about the documentary. The clip started with an interview of Tom Kim who was stunned to see his friend handcuffed and walking to a car. Later, Scheffler would describe how he felt during this.
I was freaking out because I went from driving into the golf course to a jail cell and I still don’t really know how that happened exactly. I don’t think it ever really felt real.

Scheffler then proceeded to shoot 2-over in the third round on Saturday. He eventually bounced back from this and fired a score of 6-under in the final round to finish the event T8, eight shots behind winner Xander Schauffele.
Police officer apparently had ‘no idea’ who Scottie Scheffler was during arrest
In the sporting world, Scottie Scheffler is considered one of the best athletes of this generation. However, not everyone is super into sports. As per the clip shared by Netflix, it seems the police officer who arrested him had ‘no idea’ who he was.

After leading him into the car, the officer would ask Scheffler whether he had drunk something before arriving at the course. The 2-time Masters Champion claimed that he only had “mouthwash” as he was due to tee off at 8 a.m. The officer would go on to state that he must be “good” as he was playing in the PGA.
I assume you are pretty good if you are playing in the PGA.

The officer may not have been a huge golf fan, but he had probably heard about Tiger Woods. He would ask Scheffler whether the 15-time major champion is “as good as they say?“.
While Woods may have dominated the game for the past two decades, Scheffler is the one who is now reigning top of the golf standings. As of this week, Scheffler is starting his 92nd week as the World No.1 and his 126th overall. He though still has to go a long way to catch Woods in this category.
