Scottie Scheffler came away as the winner once again. On Sunday, the World No.1 captured his 20th PGA Tour title following a dominating victory at The American Express Championship.
After another successful season in 2025, Scheffler made his first 2026 start last week. In the first round, he shot a bogey-free 63 and followed it with another low score of 64 in the second round.
After 36 holes, he was 17-under par for the tournament and tied for the lead alongside 18-year-old Blades Brown, who shot an impressive score of 60 in the second round.
The two of them then fired a score of 68 in the third round and went into the final round, one shot behind Si Woo Kim. After 3 impressive rounds, Blades ran out of gas on Sunday as he carded a score of 74.
Scheffler, however, did not have any such problem. On the front nine, Scheffler made 5 birdies and had one bogey to finish with a score of 32. On the back nine, he made 4 more birdies and was 8-under par for the round after the 16th hole.
Despite a double bogey on the par-3 17th hole, he was far ahead. Following a par on the final hole, he finished the round with a score of 66.
He eventually claimed his first win of the season with a 27-under par score and was 4 strokes ahead of runners-up, Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty and Andrew Putnam.

This was Scheffler’s 20th win on the PGA Tour. This earns him a lifetime membership on the tour.
He is also the third fastest golfer to reach this milestone, having done so in just 151 starts. Jack Nicklaus (127 starts) and Tiger Woods (97 starts) are the only ones who have achieved this feat faster than him.

Meanwhile, Woods was in a completely different territory. The former World No.1 had an astonishing 46 PGA Tour wins, which included 10 major wins before he turned 30 on December 30, 2005.

While speaking with the reporters at the press conference, Scheffler gave his thoughts regarding this and claimed he was probably doing something right to get mentioned with Nicklaus and Woods.
I mean, any time you can get mentioned with those guys it means you’re doing some stuff right. At the end of the day it’s not something that will occupy many of my thoughts day-to-day… I don’t spend too much time thinking about the milestones or anything like that.
Scottie Scheffler told the reporters
This was also Scheffler’s 16th consecutive top-10 finish on the PGA Tour. This is the most by any player on the tour since 1983. His last finish outside the top-10 was at The Players Championship in March last year, where he finished T20 with a score of 4-under par.
