This past Sunday, Scottie Scheffler claimed his 4th major championship as he took home the 2025 Open Championship title. Recently, the golfer cleared the air regarding the mysterious ‘fart-gate‘ situation at Royal Portrush.

During the first round of the tournament last Thursday, the cameras caught something unusual. After Scheffler chipped his shot on the greens, a loud fart sound was recorded live. The commentators would laugh off the incident as the World No.1 moved away from the scene.

The mystery regarding that fart was solved on the Pardon My Take podcast. In the podcast appearance, the golfer hilariously admitted that it was him who passed up the gas.

Yeah, that was me. Oh yeah, that was me. You’re out there for like six hours, you’re eating some different food over there. Some stuff is going to happen.

Scheffler almost holed out on the 17th hole after releasing some gas. He eventually birdied that hole and finished the opening round with a 3-under 68 score. He would then post scores of 64, 67, and 68 in the next three rounds to win the Open Championship with a 4-shot lead while finishing 17-under par.

With his win, the American international clinched his 2nd major win of the year and completed three legs of the career grand slam. He now needs to win the U.S. Open to become just the 7th player to win all 4 major championships.

The Cowboys are one of the most popular teams in North American sports history. However, the Dallas-based side have not tasted success in over three decades.

The NFC East side has not won the Super Bowl since 1995. Scheffler, the 29-year-old, has never seen his beloved team lift the Lombardi Trophy.

I would trade one [major] for sure for a Super Bowl. I mean, I have been rooting for a Super Bowl for a long time. Hard work gone into it you know, cheering the boys. Arguably a lot more disappointed in football then there is in golf.

Scottie Scheffler said

Last season was another disappointing one for the Cowboys. After winning the opening game, the team lost in Weeks 2 and 3. Following 4 successive losses from Week 8 to 12, the team finished with a 7-10 record, 3rd in the NFC East.

Scottie Scheffler turns down comparison with Tiger Woods following 4th major win

Woods, the 15-time major champion, has become a standard of comparison in golf when a player does well. Scheffler has been in a stunning form in the past few years, leading to many comparing him with the golf veteran.

After winning the Open Championship, Scheffler claimed it was ‘silly‘ to compare him with Woods as he still had a long way to go. He also praised the former World No.1 and expressed that he stands alone in the game of golf.

I still think they’re a bit silly. Tiger won, what, 15 majors? This is my fourth. I just got one-fourth of the way there. I think Tiger stands alone in the game of golf.

Scottie Scheffler on comparisons with Tiger Woods

He did manage to match an incredible record with Woods after his win. From his first major win at the Masters in 1997 to his 4th major win at the Open Championship in 2000, there were a total of 1,197 days in between.

This is the exact number of days between Scheffler’s first and fourth major triumphs. Scheffler won his first major at the 2022 Masters on April 10. His fourth major win came at the Open Championship on July 20, 2025, exactly 1,197 days after he won his first green jacket. Only golf gods can explain this incredible achievement.
