Following an impressive 2024 season, Scottie Scheffler ended the year in a way he probably did not expect. The World No.1 suffered a hand injury after a freak accident at Christmas, which left him sidelined. He now has his sights set on returning to the golf course.
During the Christmas celebration at his home, the two-time Masters champion injured his wrist. This led to an emergency surgery for him which saw him missing the opening three events of the new PGA Tour season.
On Monday, Scheffler provided an update regarding his health. The 28-year-old golfer claimed that his surgery went well.
However, he admitted that he will not be rushing back and see how things go for him in the upcoming days.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the second signature event of the PGA Tour, could be the tournament where Scheffler marks his return. This event will take place at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Following this event, the PGA Tour will move to TPC Scottsdale for the Waste Management Phoenix Open. If Scheffler decides to take some more time off and does not return at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the WM Phoenix Open could likely be the place where he kick starts his new season.
Scottie Scheffler’s PGA Tour rival suffers major injury setback
At the moment, Scottie Scheffler is not the only top name on the PGA Tour who is suffering from injury. One of his top rivals have suffered a major injury setback, leading to some time off the course.
The rival spoken about here is Xander Schauffele. The World No.2 has been sidelined from action since his participation in the first match of the TGL.
As per Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis, Schauffele is suffering from a rib injury. The golfer is reported to have been dealing with this pain since last year.
At the moment he is having some trouble while swinging the golf club. As a result of this, Schauffele will miss the Farmers Open, an event which takes place in his hometown of San Diego, California. Just like Scheffler, Schauffele is unsure about taking part in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
World #2 @XSchauffele has been bothered with a right rib injury since late last year. It is not skeletal but instead soft tissue. Played through issue at @TheSentry but resting now and not making any full swings. Not playing hometown event this week. Uncertain about @attproam.

The top two ranked golfers had an amazing 2024 season. While Scheffler won nine times including the Masters Tournament, Schauffele took home two major championships in the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. It now remains to be seen when both of them will get the chance to go head-to-head against each other in 2025.
