The Miami Dolphins snapped the Buffalo Bills’ seven-game winning streak, against them, on Sunday at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The Bills could only put up 13 points on the board after a scoreless offensive performance in the first half.

The Buffalo Bills, ranked second in the division, behind leaders New England Patriots have found themselves with a huge problem in a crucial juncture. They have now lost three games where their offense didn’t pick up enough to get them to the red zone. It may just be a regular season game now but soon it will be the playoffs and there’s no second chances there. They need a change in their offensive office and there’s an available option in Brian Daboll, the former New York Giants HC.

After the Giants’ poor performance continued once again under his helm, the Giants fired Daboll. Though Daboll’s track record as a head coach hasn’t been ideal, he has won five titles as an assistant coach across his two stints in Massachusetts. However, the Bills head coach Sean McDermott isn’t eager to bring his old offensive coordinator. Daboll and McDermott worked as offensive coordinator and head coach respectively for three seasons before the former left Buffalo for the Big Apple’s team.

The Buffalo Bills aren’t any strangers to mid-season personnel changes, even an important holding like the offensive coordinator. In 2023, the Bills parted ways with Ken Dorsey and hired Joe Brady. Considering the weak outings from the team lately, the Bills HC McDermott was totally cool and prepared when the reporters asked whether Daboll might make a return to Buffalo.

“I understand why you’re asking that. Brian’s a great coach. Unfortunate to see that happen to him. At this point, that’s not under any type of consideration,” McDermott said in the post-game media availability.

The Buffalo Bills were everyone’s favorite last week when they rallied to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs for the second straight year in the regular season head-to-head between the teams. The Week 10 didn’t reflect any hint of that team and the slightest miscue invited blazing pitchforks and scythes for the personnel.

The Herd producer and host, Colin Cowherd addressed the Bills blowout loss to the Dolphins and ripped into Sean McDermott. Cowherd subtly hinted at McDermott’s drawbacks and very subtly suggested the Bills to think after McDermott while admitting that the coach is wasting Josh Allen’s talent.

“Here’s my thing with Sean McDermott, something’s always leaking, and it takes him an entire offseason to figure it out. You don’t have an offseason. You’re wasting Josh Allen’s prime,” Cowherd said.

Cowherd may just be putting McDermott as a scarecrow to hit at for their weak passing game. The Bills have an obvious issue in the passing game: they lack a number-one wide receiver capable of completing Allen’s throws into the red zone. Nonetheless, even McDermott knows that he’s scooping off Allen’s skills.

“We’ve got a great quarterback and you want to be able to move the ball two dimensionally. We should be able to move the ball with Josh through the air.” McDermott said

According to history, teams that have fired head coaches mid-season haven’t fared well. With a winning record of 6-3, McDermott is fine for the time being, and he’s most likely to continue till the end of the season. However, things could change in the offseason if McDermott can’t lead the Bills to a deeper playoff run. Fans are frustrated with the winless conference championships and the haunted memories of coming close and never winning it, chasing them.

The Bills return to action next week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who lost to the New England Patriots this week.
