Sean O’Malley‘s biggest pay-per-view headliner ended with him losing the UFC bantamweight championship. ‘Suga’ was overpowered by his opponent, Merab Dvalishvili, who did all possible to win the fight. Following the loss, O’Malley received a range of criticism. This resulted in some heated back and forth, particularly from boxing superstar Devin Haney.
O’Malley over-promised and underperformed at Noche UFC and failed to impress his fans with his flat performance. After O’Malley’s loss, Haney mocked the fight on X and called him bit** a**. In retaliation, O’Malley hit him back in his latest podcast. The fighter welcomed Haney for a MMA fight with a whopping $1 million on the line.
Boxers are f***ing p***ies dude. Devin Haney’s a b*tch. If Devin Haney wants to talk sh*t, if he really wants to fight, I’ll put a million dollars on me versus him, no time limit, and we can fight. MMA rules, just a fight. Or we could just do no rules.Sean O’Malley via The TimboSugarShow
Sean O’Malley and Devin Haney have previously traded internet jibes. O’Malley has always had an interest in boxing and has previously challenged Haney about it. Haney slammed down the UFC superstar by criticizing the disparity in their fight purses.
O’Malley, on the other hand, believes that boxing lacks entertaining superstars like him and aspires to fill that vacuum. Throughout his reign as UFC champion, he mocked Haney, Ryan Garcia, and Gervonta Davis on numerous occasions. However, this time, Haney is directing the shots and has a bigger idea in response to O’Malley’s challenge.
Devin Haney wants Sean O’Malley in boxing
Sean O’Malley managed to gain superstar status within his brief time as the bantamweight champion. O’Malley is a true pay-per-view star and was capable of his abilities to become the biggest combat sports athlete. However, all plans came crashing down after his latest loss against Merab Dvalishvili.
O’Malley had planned to enter the boxing world after a few more title defenses, but things have turned out differently. Devin Haney, on the other hand, has provided O’Malley an excellent opportunity to settle the beef while also making a lot of money. According to Haney, instead of MMA, they should box for a higher fight purse.
I don’t fight for a million dollars like you.. @SugaSeanMMA let’s do a boxing fight & give us a shot at making real moneyDevin Haney via X
While it is an excellent opportunity, O’Malley’s UFC deal will make it difficult for him to try boxing. For now, despite the fighter’s obvious wrestling deficiency, his coach recently indicated that he will return stronger shortly. It will be interesting to see how O’Malley’s situation develops in the future.
