UFC 300 saw Max Holloway win the BMF strap in a daring back-and-forth at the buzzer-fall moment. Moreover, the historic PPV also saw Justin Gaethje‘s parents witnessing the horrific and bloody blowout of their son’s knockout loss. Tim ‘Red Hawk’ Welch filmed the vicious KO victory. However, Gaethje’s parents were the standouts in the aftermath.

Tim Welch of the Red Hawk Academy is the longtime coach of current bantamweight king Sean O’Malley. Welch and O’Malley attended UFC 300, where Welch livestreamed the event for his fans. With seconds on the clock, Max Holloway faceplanted the opponent in Round 5 – at the exact mark of 4:59. While his swinging it till the final buzzer was quite sensational, Welch’s recording caught Justin Gaethje’s parents’ reaction in the background.

These media people zooming in on Justin’s Parents in my are pieces of sh*t, I was filming my reaction video and had no clue his parents were behind me until Sugar told me later...

Tim Welch, famed for The TimboSugarshow, was filming his reaction live. Gaethje’s father, while originally jovial towards the end, had his mood changed when his son got struck with the most violent turnaround with the vicious KO. Commentator Daniel Cormier is a close acquaintance of ‘The Highlight’ and had desk duties at UFC 300; he had quite a squirmish reaction to his friend getting flatlined.

So, it isn’t hard to imagine how Gaethje’s parents must have felt at the given moment. This only brings to the forefront the blatant truth of combat sports: it is quite high-pacing. Concurrently, anything can happen at any given moment. Hence, Welch roasted such practices of sniffing footage showcasing personal hurt and emotions.

UFC 300 saw Max Holloway execute a buzzer-beating challenging KO to bag the BMF title. Holloway called for Justin Gaethje to duke it out in the middle of the ring in the last ten or so seconds. The two battled it out in wild swings, firmly settling in, until ‘Blessed’ flatlined him with an overhand KO.

However, a more notable thing that transpired was that Gaethje’s parents attended the event (obviously); their reactions were filmed. MMA Coach Tim Welch and Sean O’Malley filmed live reactions from the event for their YouTube channel. He later mentioned even trying to include Dricus Du Plessis in the footage while Gaethje’s parents were behind.

Justin had a little collar tie with his left hand and, boom, Holloway snuck it in and just crumples him…Justin’s parents were behind us…People forget these people have to live with this, this brain damage. People’s families are there watching this person… their whole team is there and just watching your person go down like that, it’s hard...

One unavoidable aspect of combat culture is friends and families witnessing the aftermath, as is the case now. Welch sympathized on the matter during his Holloway vs. Gaethje breakdown segment. Welch has also expressed his angst against mainstream media partitioning out such snippets and background reactions to promote content. Such practices brought Gaethje’s parents’ reactions to it to the forefront. Welch voiced his dislike for it.
