Sean O’Malley rose to the pinnacle of the bantamweight division under the guidance of Tim Welch, his friend and head coach. Unlike the coaches of most of the fighters, Welch is closer in age to O’Malley. As such, the duo have partnered up for some hilarious journeys.

O’Malley recently received a lowrider as a gift from streamer Adin Ross for his title defense at UFC 299. Now, it was time for O’Malley to do the same as he gifted Tim Welch a Rolex, a gold-colored one. The kind gesture made Welch speechless.

Dude, thank you so fu**ing much [for the Rolex]. Best gift I've ever gotten...Dude you [Sean O'Malley] are the fucking man and it feels fu**ing perfect...I literally was wanting one with some fu**ing gold on it bad.

O’Malley gave the gift while they did their Timbo Sugar Show podcast. The outspoken coach had very few words to say while receiving the gift. At first, O’Malley hilariously said he got his coach a Lamborghini. Afterward, he gifted the Rolex in a White box.

O’Malley had already gifted his dad a Rolex in 2022. The bantamweight champion has a tight-knit group of family and friends and always takes care of them. He helped his brother recover from meth addiction. Moreover, his mother manages his finances. Suga even spent 100k of his first $1 million earnings on his mother.

Sean O’Malley speaks on getting a tax write-off for the Rolex

After Sean O’Malley gifted the Rolex to his coach, one of the guests suggested he could get a tax write-off on the gift. However, O’Malley clarified it was not possible and stated the amount he had to pay as tax in the past year.

O’Malley only fought once in 2023 against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292. However, in 2023, he paid half of the money he earned as taxes. When one of the guests in the podcast suggested he should not pay taxes, O’Malley replied what happened to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. The UFC Hall of Famer did not pay taxes in the beginning. In his later career, he fought to pay off taxes.

O’Malley had already fought once in 2024 against Marlon Vera at UFC 299. He would fight at least once more in 2024, potentially against Merab Dvalishvili. Therefore, Suga would likely have to pay exponentially more in 2024 than in 2023 as he is the champion. However, he does not have to pay 10-20% for managers as he directly dealt with the UFC in contract negotiations.
